Scratch art is a type of engraving where an artist scratches through dark ink to uncover a colored layer beneath. Now French company Djeco has taken scratch art to a whole new level with these original display-worthy designs. Follow the directions and embellish parts of the creative scratch art boards with simple zentangle-like patterns, and in other places, larger areas of the boards are scratched off to reveal hidden surprises.
Djeco Bugs is an excellent introduction to this unique craft and includes cute insects. A perfect way for kindergartners to practice patterns, following directions, and attention to detail, Djeco Bugs includes four generously-sized scratch templates, one scratch tool sized for little hands, and a full-color pictorial instruction booklet filled with inspiring design ideas. Djeco Scratch Boards kits will boost both your child’s fine motor and visual discernment skills.

”The activity set is for ages 3-6, so it’s one of those great activities for building fine motor skills. Children can make their scratchings as simple or elaborate as they would like – there are patterns underneath the blue ink.”Read the Review

Kiddo seems to like it.
This art set appealed to my son. It fascinated him to use the stick to scratch off the layer hiding the patterns underneath. It can be used to create intricate patterns, but he liked scratching it so much, he removed as much as possible. The way I see it, that is good for his fine motor skills and concentration. It is a nice alternative to coloring books.
The five year old was just working on these yesterday and she was so excited to see what she could uncover beneath all the blue scratchy stuff. She did the ladybug one and was so thrilled every time she found another ladybug hidden on the plants. I would recommend this product because it does help fine motor skills in a really, really fun way.
My daughter used all the boards at one time. They are super easy, and less detailed than other kits. Great for younger kids!
Djeco bugs are very cute and a lot of fun. My 3 year old really enjoyed these. Glad I could incorporate these into our curriculum.
