Prime Suspect: At the Ski Resort
The setting might make you smile—but the thinking is still serious.
Prime Suspect: Ski Resort introduces a cast of quirky suspects that makes each logic puzzle feel light at first glance. Solving the cases, however, requires careful, step-by-step reasoning.
Across 45 increasingly difficult challenges, your child begins by making obvious matches—Rita with the skis or Mark with the snowboard—then moves on to testing possibilities, ruling out what cannot work, and revising his choices.
That process of testing, eliminating, and reconsidering is where the real thinking happens.
Read the clues aloud and encourage your child to think through each one before touching a piece. He has to listen carefully, hold several details in mind, and decide where a tile belongs.
The playful ski-resort mystery draws him in. The increasingly complex logic challenges keep him working.
How to Use Prime Suspect: Ski Resort
- Set out the tiles and choose a case.
- Read the first clue aloud, then pause. Give your child time to picture what it means before placing anything.
- Place one tile, then check the choice against the information given. If it doesn’t hold up, move it and try another possibility.
- Continue through the clues one at a time. Each new placement must agree with everything already established.
- Stay nearby, but don’t direct the solution. A quick “Does that still work?” is usually enough to keep him reasoning.
- Let him finish the case, even if it takes several adjustments. That back-and-forth of placing, checking, and revising is where the logic skills develop.

The Prime Suspect is always the person in the center of the 3×3 grid. Choose a case, study the clues, and begin deducing! By comparing details about appearance and location—such as above, below, beside, or between other suspects—you narrow the possibilities until you can identify who belongs in the center.
Not necessarily! Your goal is to identify the Prime Suspect, not always to determine the exact position of every character. Some cases can be solved before the entire grid is complete, which adds another layer of discovery: finding out how much information you actually need.
Prime Suspect focuses on the logic puzzle itself rather than a scripted crime story. However, imaginative players may find themselves inventing their own stories about the colorful cast of suspects along the way!
Each case is designed so that the clues lead to one correct Prime Suspect in the center of the grid. In some puzzles, however, the positions of the other suspects may vary. Two players who correctly solve the same case will always identify the same Prime Suspect, even if some of the remaining suspects end up in different positions.
