Dr. Livingston's Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzles - Set of 3
A popular pastime during the COVID-19 pandemic was jigsaw puzzles. With a world that felt out of control, jigsaw puzzles provided a clear goal and a sense of purpose. Families could gather and spend an afternoon assembling a puzzle, or the pieces could be left on a table to tinker on whenever the mood hit. Because jigsaw puzzles engage both sides of the brain, they are an excellent choice for people of all ages and not just during a quarantine!
This makes us pleased to be adding Dr. Livingston's beautiful, larger-than-life, medically-illustrated human anatomy puzzles. Each uniquely-shaped puzzle presents scientifically accurate cross-sections of the human body, at twice the size of a real human. Your students will find themselves naturally learning as they work on the different sections of anatomy. Each puzzle box is designed to look like a vintage medical text and includes a front cover that seals shut with a durable magnetic clasp. A detailed, labeled image identifying all the parts is on the inside flap of the box. The puzzle pieces are of good quality, and the educational value of this puzzle is unsurpassed. Each Dr. Livingston puzzle may be assembled and displayed individually or combined to create a continuous 10' tall jigsaw puzzle of the human body. Currently, there are three Dr. Livingston volumes available, but more are planned for the future.
Volume 1 of Dr. Livingston's Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzle: The Human Head is a 538-piece puzzle measuring 23 x 18 inches when fully assembled. With it, your child will create a cross-section of the brain, the thick bony skull, the jaw, and teeth. He will also fit together an eye, the muscles that support and move the eye, and the neck that protects the spinal cord and houses the esophagus, larynx, and trachea.
In the second volume, Dr. Livingston's Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzle: The Human Thorax, your student will assemble a cross-section with a clear view of the entire rib cage and its contents. As he completes this puzzle, he'll frame the organs with cross-sections of the sternum, ribs, and thoracic vertebrae. Inside that protective cage lies a wealth of vital and vulnerable organs: the trachea carries air to the two lungs, and sitting between them beats the four-chambered heart.
In the third volume of Dr. Livingston's Anatomy Jigsaw Puzzle: The Human Abdomen, your student will become familiar with the contents of the largest cavity in the human body. He'll see how the vital organs are suspended in the abdominal cavity by loose connective tissue called the mesentery, which contains blood vessels and nerves and allows the organs to move as necessary. Fill out the abdominal cavity by assembling the body's lower digestive tract, including the stomach, small and large intestines, and the supportive pancreas, liver, and gallbladder.
