Timberdoodle Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 2nd, 2026

The Short Version

We collect and use the information you give us in order to get your curriculum to your door and serve you well. We don't sell your information. Ever. You can ask us to show you what we have, fix it, or delete it. If you have trouble using our website, just call us and we'll help. That's it! (But if you want the details, keep reading.)

At Timberdoodle, we believe that trust is the foundation of every good relationship, and that includes the relationship between our family and yours. For over 40 years, we've been honored to walk alongside homeschool families, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect your personal information just as carefully as we'd want ours protected.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and most importantly, your rights regarding your own data. We've tried to write this in plain language rather than dense legalese, because we believe you deserve to actually understand how your information is handled.

What Information We Collect

Information you provide directly: When you create an account, place an order, sign up for our newsletter, enter a contest, or contact us, you may share your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and payment information. If you're sending a gift, we'll also collect the recipient's shipping information.

Information collected automatically: When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies. This includes your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and how you interact with our site. This helps us improve your shopping experience and keep our website running smoothly. You can opt out of this collection through your browser settings or the opt-out tools described in the Cookies section below.

Information from other sources: Occasionally, we may receive information from third-party service providers who help us with shipping, payment processing, or marketing. We only work with partners who agree to protect your information.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to serve you better. Specifically, we use your information to process and ship your orders accurately and promptly; respond to your questions, requests, and concerns; send you order confirmations, shipping updates, and other transactional communications; personalize your shopping experience by showing you products and content that match your interests; send marketing communications (only if you've opted in); improve our website, products, and services; detect and prevent fraud; and comply with legal obligations.

What we don't do: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Period. We never have, and we never will. Your trust matters more to us than any revenue we might gain from selling your data.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help websites remember you. We use cookies to keep items in your shopping cart, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our site (so we can make it better), and support advertising efforts, which may include showing you relevant ads on other platforms.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when a cookie is set. Please note that if you disable cookies, some features of our website (like your shopping cart) may not work properly. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance at aboutads.info/choices.

When We Share Your Information

We share your information only when necessary to serve you or when required by law. This includes sharing with service providers who help us operate our business (such as payment processors, shipping carriers, and email service providers). These partners are contractually required to protect your information and can only use it to provide services to us. We may also share information to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to subpoenas, court orders, or government requests, and to protect rights and safety when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Timberdoodle, our customers, or others.

We do not share personal information for third-party marketing purposes.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. We respect these rights for all our customers, regardless of location.

Right to Know and Access: You can request to know what personal information we have collected about you and receive a copy of that information.

Right to Correction: You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information.

Right to Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions (such as information needed to complete a transaction or comply with legal requirements).

Right to Opt Out: You can opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email, updating your preferences in your account settings, or contacting us directly.

Right to Data Portability: In certain jurisdictions, you have the right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used format.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the information provided at the end of this policy. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30-45 days). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

California Residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide you with additional rights. In addition to the rights described above, you have the right to know whether your personal information is sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do not sell your personal information, and we provide opt-out mechanisms for targeted advertising); the right to limit use and disclosure of sensitive personal information; and the right to opt out of automated decision-making. You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf. We may ask for proof of authorization before processing such requests.

Children's Privacy

While Timberdoodle serves homeschool families with children of all ages, our website is directed to parents and educators, not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. When parents place orders for curriculum materials, they are providing their own information, not their children's.

If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from your child, please contact us immediately.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. This includes encryption of sensitive data, secure server infrastructure, access controls limiting who can view your information, regular security assessments, and employee training on data protection.

While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

International Customers

Timberdoodle is based in Washington State, USA. If you are visiting our website or making purchases from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using our services, you consent to this transfer. We will take appropriate steps to ensure your information receives adequate protection consistent with applicable data protection laws.

Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Accessibility

At Timberdoodle, we believe everyone deserves access to quality curriculum resources. We are committed to making our website accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities. We work to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and continually improve the accessibility of our site.

If you're having difficulty navigating our website or accessing any content, please reach out to us. Our team is always happy to assist you, whether that means helping you find the right product, placing an order over the phone, or answering questions about our curriculum. We're here to help, and we genuinely mean that.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
