The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible
Our foray into foster care has yielded a flock of little humans who would rather leap from the couch than sit attentively on it. For these little ones, devotions have to be short, eye-catching, and easy to understand. For the adults, it has to be theologically solid and grace centered (not moral lessons aimed at behavior modification), especially because we know that some of these children will be returned to situations that are spiritually dark. The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible has checked all our boxes.
The illustrations are simple, captivating, and stunning, and the minimal text is clear and theologically correct. Because God’s promises are at the heart of the gospel, The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible focuses on them throughout, with the Old Testament section titled, "Promises Made," and the New Testament, "Promises Kept." Stories highlight God’s plan of redemption through Jesus and the unexpected ways God’s grace and mercy are revealed throughout the Bible. With The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible, your tiniest children will not only learn key Bible stories but also basic words like sin, promise, Jesus, Savior, pray, and forgive.
The vividly-colored illustrations provide your little ones with opportunity for fun learning such as counting, finding the opposite, looking for patterns, and more. A key truth in every story is printed extra-bold, perfect for quick reviews or reading with infants. Each of the 52 stories ends with a question that you can use to further reinforce the story. Because you don’t want your children to just understand the Bible, you want them to want the Jesus of the Bible, if you have small children in your home you will want to add The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible to your bookshelf.

"Jared Kennedy has created a spectacular resource to help us teach the Bible to our youngest children. Though the language is simple enough for toddlers, the gospel truth it carries can and will transform lives. The illustrations compliment the story, creating a colorful journey for children as they discover the promises of God and how they are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. I will be placing a copy of this book in all our Children's ministry classrooms and recommending that every family in our church with small children add it to their bookshelf."

The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible is a beautiful text that will capture the heart and minds of the littlest of God's children. Spirituality is part of the growth process and just as important as the physical, mental, and emotional development of the child. The Gospel Story Bible guides little ones from the very beginnings of God's love and concern to the promise kept by God's Son Jesus. Hope is the theme running through the text.
Just because these concepts are abstract in nature, it should not deter families to begin teaching their children about faith. The illustrations are beautifully and thoughtfully designed. We are using Gospel time on a weekly basis in conjunction with art and manipulatives. Hermeneutically centered, Gospel time gives parents the opportunity of telling the story behind the text (how life was), the story (the text itself) , and the thoughtful reflection questions after the story (in front of the text) as application in their lives.
As having a Masters in Religious Education, I highly recommend this wonderful journey to enrich the spiritual life of your little one. It is a great beginning for foundational spirituality.
This is our favorite reading at age 3-5. We love it.
This book is amazing. Vibrant colors and a very clear and simplistic presentation of the Gospel. My 4 year old asks to keep reading it.
