Skill Sharpeners Geography - Grade 3
Easily one of the most overlooked subjects in the homeschool curriculum is geography. But Skill Sharpeners Geography lets your child explore his world while learning key map skills and geography concepts with little fuss on your part. The cross-curricular activities integrate the most current geography standards, and each eye-catching book is divided into colorful collections of engaging, grade appropriate themes. Each theme includes short nonfiction reading selections, comprehension questions, vocabulary practice, and writing prompts. Optional hands-on activities will excite the kinesthetic child in your home.
Skill Sharpeners Geography takes your child beyond just the basics of geography and includes a smattering of histories and cultures within our world. The colorful illustrations and pages will grab your child’s attention, and the handy (removable) answer key in the back allows your student to easily check his own work.

The rest of the geography books were great but I guess I'm the only one who doesn't care for this one. It was entirely too difficult for my 8 y/o to understand what was being asked of him in the question section.
We loved the second grade book, but this one is even better. It is well organized, easy to understand, informative, and beautiful. The pictures and drawings are so bright and colorful. That definitely helps hold my daughter's attention, while combining education and fun!
Skill Sharpeners Geography is a great book. It is divided into units covering a variety of topics. Each unit has reading, vocabulary, comprehension questions, a writing assignment and a hands on activity. It's the perfect balance of learning and fun. I enjoy the great images included in the units, along with the descriptive captions. My art lovers have taken a liking to the hands on activities since they are like small art projects. Highly suggest this book.
Skills Sharpener Geography is a thorough study of geography. I was surprised by how much went into it, and if you put aside the time to work through this one, your child will have a solid understanding of the earth we live on. Expect fill in the blanks, writing prompts, nonfiction reading selections, and optional hands on activities.
We have really enjoyed the Evan Moor Skill Sharpeners. We use them for Geography and Science. They are full of interesting pictures and graphics. For kids with shorter attention spans these are great lessons that won’t drag on. There is a good balance between reading activities with comprehension questions, writing assignments and hands-on activities.
