Horizons Math

For Math Enthusiasts
Having multiple children with different abilities broadens our family’s perspective on learning, showing us that there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach—especially in math. For kids who love a challenge and see math as a mystery to solve, Horizons Math is a great fit.

Analytical Reasoning, Memorization, and Drill Applied to Real-Life Situations
The colorful pages of Horizons Math might seem fun, but the program is serious business. It focuses on analytical reasoning, memorization, and drill, with skills that are directly applicable to real-life situations. This is a fast-paced, rigorous math curriculum.

Spiral Learning More Closely Parallels Real Life
Horizons Math uses spiral learning, introducing new concepts while reinforcing previously learned ones. Though repetitive, this method mirrors real-life problem-solving, where multiple math skills often come into play. If the repetition feels excessive, you can adjust it, but revisit it if needed for mastery.

Student-Directed Instructions Increase Every Year
In the early grades, Horizons Math has minimal instructions, but these gradually increase, allowing students to work more independently as they progress. The teacher’s manual is optional but helpful for hands-on learners. Additional worksheets can be purchased for extra practice, and each grade includes two workbooks and a teacher's manual. A placement test is also available.

No special manipulatives are required!
