Explorer Level–Grade 9
The Explorer Level is an engaging anthology that draws on exceptional world literature. Jules Verne’s classic novel, Around the World in 80 Days, complements a full lineup of selections in a variety of literary genres, including "The Death of the Hired Man," "The Charge of the Light Brigade," "The Gettysburg Address," excerpts from David Copperfield, and many more. Authors such as Winston Churchill, Hellen Keller, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B. Du Bois introduce ninth-grade students to the academically invigorating world of classic literature.
About Implications of Literature
Implications of Literature is an academically rigorous high school literature series that features traditional, values-oriented content. These textbooks create coursework that preserves family values while exposing your high school student to excellent short stories, novellas, drama, novels, and biographical and auto-biographical nonfiction. All stories have been chosen to build character in young minds without moralizing.
Implications of Literature texts are designed to build comprehension, critical and analytical skills. informal quizzes, textual sidebars, literary critiques, writing assignments, journaling, grammar, and vocabulary are just a few of Implications of Literature's innovative features. The student text includes an introduction to each genre, with vocabulary clearly explained in footers on nearly every page. The teacher's text includes all of the content of the student text with helpful annotations and suggested answers for assignments.
If you are homeschooling a high schooler and want a literature program that will encourage wholesome values, albeit without religious content, Implications of Literature fills this need with academic excellence and thought-provoking selections. The stories, while not religious, still reflect good precepts and are free of material that would conflict with Christian values.
The Implications of Literature student book is not consumable. Occasional questions appear throughout the text, but these are best answered on a separate paper. Families may choose to have students share student books, but if you have two students using the course simultaneously, they may find it most practical and efficient to each have their own student book.

This curriculum has a great selection of literature to inspire your kids.
Very nice book with alot of stories . A big help learning how to writing short stories , essays and practicing vocabulary .
This is the program I was probably the most excited about. We are a bit disappointed. Although there are sample essays in the back, there are no real step by step instructions. Having done IEW and Lost Tools of Writing in the past, this seems lacking. I love what it COULD be. It seems to me that the publisher assumes either the student or teacher already has the essay skills. Unless I haven’t found it yet, the teacher’s manual does not have directions for instructing the writing assignments. We’ll work with it this year and see how it goes. If you’ve never taught writing skills before, I wouldn’t recommend this if that is your main focus.
This is not a favorite for my daughter as there is just so much to do. As the year went on she started to feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of work there was to do. She definitely gained a lot from it and I feel is more knowledgeable with all areas of English now.
We just started this series and so far has really good. It has made my son stop and think about literature in a different way. I have been pleased with it so far and I am looking forward to the other levels.
