Wimmelbooks Set of 3
Loosely translated as a book of abundance, Wimmelbooks are one-of-a-kind oversized board books that use few words, yet provide endless opportunity for curious kids to discover, learn, and increase vocabulary.

Hugely popular in Germany and around the world, here’s how Wimmelbooks work: At the beginning of each Wimmelbook, children are introduced to a cast of about a dozen characters such as Molly the mechanic, Sergio the boss, or Rusty the dog. As your child flips through the book, he will be looking for those characters hidden in plain sight among the hustle and bustle of their Wimmelworld. Each character has a different storyline that unfolds from page to page as he moves through the depicted scenes.

Toddlers will love finding items and actions already familiar to them like balloons, strollers, and pigs splashing in a mud puddle. Preschoolers will engage with the Wimmelbooks at the next level because they can track and find the characters in each new display. With practice, they will then be able to fabricate a storyline that fits the various scenes. Plus, there is so much going on in each spread that there is always one more story that can be told or situation that can be speculated on. For instance, why is there a submarine in the harbor, and what do you do when a bear threatens your camp?

Wimmelbooks provide parents with a rich opportunity to ask questions, discovering what their child knows while encouraging them to add depth to their creative narrative. We were able to preview a mockup of the Wimmelbooks last summer with our three-year-old twins, and they provided hours of discussion about topics that had never occurred to us. Develop your child’s cognitive skills of collecting clues, exploring, and telling stories with the Wimmelbooks.

Great for all ages

These are amazing books that are interesting for all ages. They're like a Where's Waldo that's a little easier but that also has a story for you to tell and that's a lot more interesting.

Adorable and Fun

My son and I look at these at bedtime. Some of the beginning pictures do not match exactly what is depicted in the books. Nonetheless, my son loves choosing these books to look at each night. They are fun and engaging.

Great Books for Early Storytelling with Diverse Characters

My 3-year-old son loved looking at the pictures in these books. Over the course of the year he learned what a character was and how a character shows up in different scenes and relates to different characters. This was an excellent tool for developing his the earliest concepts of character, context, and plot. I also loved how diverse the characters were. I felt it was a great representation of the real social world we live in.
