Beyond Drill to Real Skills

Most parents know that a child who only memorizes math facts without really understanding math will find progressively complex concepts more and more difficult to understand. But what they erroneously think is that such problems arise about the time a child is memorizing the multiplication table. Not so. Unlike reading, an integral skill that is tightly woven throughout our entire day, math tends to be a more sporadic subject, essential when you need it and then easily set aside. That is why it is imperative that a child is able to reason his way through any mathematical problem.

Award-winning Mathematical Reasoning is a great place to start. With 282 pages of quick, straightforward problems to build mathematical reasoning skills in preschoolers, these highly motivational activities will take your child beyond mere drill work by using step-by-step, discussion-based problem solving. Concepts spiral gradually so that children do not forget as they go. The concepts are written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Non-reproducible.

Table of Contents/Skills include: Addition, Application, Counting, Fractions, Language, Logic, Manipulative, Match, Order, Pattern, Shape, and Subtraction.

Nice Intro to Math

My 4yo and I enjoyed using this book to work through the concepts of math and numbers. It touches upon lots of different ways to count, jump around the different numbers, write numbers, and work through word problems.

Love it!

I like the way math skills are presented and taught in this book; and the wide variety of skills that it covers. Each page is fun and engaging for my Pre-K student. It's a great beginning math foundation.

Creates excitement about math

My son really enjoyed going through this math workbook. It was typically his first choice of things to work on when I let him pick. Concepts spiral, so there were pages we skipped because he wanted to move on to somethings that were a bit more challenging to him. I like how it included workbook pages from some of their workbooks. Now excited to jump into Math-u-see.

Great way to learn!

I love how much my daughter learns from this book and in such a fun way!
