Using Kumon's step-by-step, incremental approach, this workbook introduces children to the concept of money by giving your child plenty of practice working with each coin before moving on to the relationships between coins. Eventually, your child will understand the names and values of every coin worth less than a dollar.

Money may well be your child's first experience of why a knowledge of math is essential!

Kumon My First Book of Money Counting Coins

We used this to supplement my daughter's math curriculum. She liked the pages and enjoyed doing the work, but it tended to be very repetitive (more than we needed since we were counting coins in her main curriculum). It is a nice "extra".

Kumon books are awesome!

We have always loved the Kumon books. They are colorful, handy and just the right size. This one is especially helpful when teaching your children about money. My daughter struggles with knowing the different values of each coin and because this is in color she is able to better distinguish a few of the pieces. We used Math-U-See math curriculum last year and it didn't cover coins so we needed a little practice. We are doing Saxon this year and I understand that it will be covered in the 2nd grade book so we will get more practice. I'm thankful for Kumon and the colorful products that they offer.

Great Teaching Tool!

My 6 year old really was struggling with money and My First Book of Money has really been wonderful. She has been able to catch on with the Kumon approach and now is doing great! I recommend this to anyone and for the price you can't beat it!

Easy way to cover the basics of coins

The Kumon My First Book of Money: Counting Coins definitely covers the all the coins. I used it with my 5 year old son. He thought it was fun and like the colorful layout.

The only drawback to me was that the pages repeated the coins over and over. If you need a program that has lots of reinforcement, then this is for you. If you need less time on each coin then you can skip a few pages and move on.

All in all I would recommend this for the money.

Teach them how money works!

Kumon My First Book of Money Counting Coins is a great workbook to introduce you child to the world of money and how it works. This book begins with reinforcing the numbers 1-100. Then it introduces each coin, one at a time. By the time your child works through the whole thing, they will have a good understanding of the American coin, and will be ready yo count (and spend!) them. As a bonus, they will be getting lots of good math, especially addition, practice.
