Timberdoodle's Review
The Transparent Rod Track is a nifty little tool that looks like a 30-cm ruler with a 1-cm groove down its center. It is particularly helpful for early practice of addition and subtraction. Designed specifically for use with Cuisenaire Rods, students build Cuisenaire Rod trains to practice counting, equivalence, and operation skills.

Handy

I use Cuisinaire Rods with my children. One thing my children found frustrating was that the Cuisinaire Rods can be slippery on a table. After spending time lining them up for addition, the slightest motion would cause them to slip out of place. The Rod Track by Spectrum is a great addition to the Cuisinaire Rods and has decreased the frustration for my children. And the value is excellent.

Good Math Manipulative

This is a good little math manipulative. You do need the have Cuisinaire Rods to get much benefit, though. My first thought was that I wished it came with instructions and user suggestions. I was quickly able to see that it was very handy for early addition. If you place the rod of one quantity in the train, and then add another, the sum is the length of the train. This is definitely easy for a young child to do. I don't see much else to do with it, yet, for for the cost, it is definitely having for the season of simple addition.
