Learn Literature Creatively
Welcome to Timberdoodle's Mosdos Literature collection! This is a comprehensive program designed to teach language arts through readings that reflect traditional values. With nearly two decades of experience, the curriculum features both classic and contemporary works that emphasize courage, honesty, loyalty, and compassion. The program never glamorizes evil or presents inappropriate subject matter, offering instead morally rich, intellectually stimulating selections that encourage a concern for others and the natural world.
The core of Mosdos Literature is the beautifully illustrated Student Reader, which includes a mix of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama. Each story is accompanied by an introduction and literary focus, such as character, theme, and conflict, to help students grasp essential literary concepts. Vocabulary words are introduced in context, followed by questions that promote both comprehension and critical thinking. Students can also engage in creative activities like writing skits or memorizing poems. The Student Activity Workbook further reinforces these concepts with vocabulary exercises, writing assignments, and language arts games that cater to various grade levels.
The Teacher’s Edition is a valuable resource for homeschool parents, providing detailed commentary and answers to all activities. Designed to support teachers of all experience levels, it includes a smaller version of the Student Reader with helpful explanations in the margins, making it easy to guide lively discussions. Mosdos Literature offers an excellent academic foundation for families who seek a high-quality, values-based curriculum that fosters a deep appreciation for literature without religious content.
