Geoboards teach recognition of geometric shapes, which is a pre-reading and pre-writing skill, as well as improve hand-eye coordination, develop the pincer grip and enhance the muscle control necessary for any pencil work. Guidecraft’s Geoboards do all that and more. The 20 pattern cards that slide easily onto the pegs introduce your preschooler to color and pattern recognition. His dexterity will improve as he attaches the colorful rubber bands, while both following patterns and creating his own designs. The hands-on nature of this math manipulative, and the coordinated effort to place the rubber bands will increase your child's ability to concentrate. Each double-sided Geoboard features a pegged circle on one side and a square grid on the other side, and has rubberized corners for enhanced durability, stability, and sound deadening. Guidecraft Geoboards come with four two-sided boards, four sets of multi-colored rubber bands, and 20 pattern cards featuring unique geometric images.
Initially, we encourage you to let your child have adequate time to explore the Geoboard, practicing adding and removing the rubber bands. Remember, Geoboards can also be used imaginatively, so encourage your preschooler to make a house, a spoon, or a rocket with his rubber bands.
A Geoboard is more than a math manipulative used to support early geometric and measurement concepts in a concrete method. Older children can use the circle side of the Geoboard to practice their analog clock skills. Make it easy by using two different colored bands for the big and small hands.
In addition, our PreK Handbook includes exclusive examples of how to make letters and numbers with the Geoboards and rubber bands.

Daughter played with these for hours when I opened the box..such a good time filler and she gets excited when she covers the whole board.
We LOVE geoboards; I also LOVE that Timberdoodle has an entire section in the handbook for making the entire alphabet with the geoboards!
I would have liked more instructions with this. We were unsure of the correct why to use the patterns provided. My kids were frustrated that the bands slipped of regularly. I don't pull this out often and it is a large box that take up a lot of room
I'm the Oma who misses her grandchildren so much she buys them preschool materials. Purchased to help my daughter through this season, Geoboards have done what I thought they would -- provide a bit of educational "fun". I used Geoboards with my home schooled ones, and these are so much better than the old, heavy, boring squares. My daughter reports that both kids, her four-year-old daughter and younger brother love them. Although they have yet to follow the "patterns", they are learning shapes and patterns, so I'm rating them a hearty five stars.
These boards are so sturdy and the pattern cards are so cute! We love the brightly colored rubber bands and the endless activities! Added benefit? Alphabet practice. Thanks, Timberdoodle!
