Crepe Foam Alphabet Puzzles
As children manipulate these three-dimensional, bright crepe foam-rubber letters, they increase visual and tactile perception, shape discrimination, and hand-eye coordination.
For the youngest, think of these as fabulous perception puzzles (just consider how similar uppercase E & F, O & Q, R & P, and M & N are). By two years old, most toddlers are able to pick out each letter. Older children can match lower case and capitals, put together words, and use the puzzles for phonics games.
You will not find a better "touch, feel, and fit" alphabet, or a more durable one, for those children who delight in pounding the pieces in. And they all do, don't they? For homeschooling, this puzzle is an essential. 2" tall letters! Includes a sturdy storage tray.
We have had these alphabet puzzles for several years now, it was one of our first purchases from Timberdoodle, and we have used it with multiple children over the years. It is very durable and there are so many was to incorporate them into learning activities. We are so glad we added these puzzles into our curriculum.
My 2 & 3 year old boys enjoy these puzzles. I put them out for them to work on while I am doing an all about reading lesson with their older brother who is in kindergarten. They tune in and out of the reading lesson as they please while they work on their puzzles. I think these are great because they help with fine motor development, letter recognition, learning the alphabet, and problem solving. The foam shapes of the letters and the background are easy and forgiving enough for their little fingers to work with and they have pictures behind them to help the children associate particular letters with a picture or word to go along with them. Once they are completed we sing the alphabet song and name the letters. I usually need to help them complete these puzzles after I finish teaching their older brother, but I think their concentration level/attention span and ability to complete them will improve with time. My only complaint is the price, I feel like it’s a great learning puzzle, but at $20, it seems a little pricey to me for the materials and for what it is. So I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5.
I was originally concerned that this would get broken due to it being made from a softer material but was pleasantly surprised at how well it held up! I also really like how there are lowercase and uppercase letters on separate puzzles. I think having them separate has made my daughter learn both instead of just recognizing the upper or lowercase letter.
These are super great - my kids like puzzles but I think they like these even more now because they are slightly Squishy and can push them in - they get them out multiple times a day and it's really been helping learn their letter recognition. They seem really durable too which is awesome. I wasn't too sure how we would like these at first - but I am super happy we ordered them and that my kids have enjoyed them as much as they have.
I almost didn’t get this product thinking it would be flimsy and get torn up easily. I’m so glad I did though because I was totally wrong. He works his puzzles all of the time. (I have him keep the i and j Dots in the puzzle and the insides of the letters in place so they don’t get lost.)
