Kumon Let's Cut Paper
Learning to safely use a pair of scissors universally seems to bring extraordinary joy to young children. In Kumon’s three-book Let's Cut Paper series, your child will learn how to hold and control scissors. He will proceed from the simple one-stroke cuts of a dog’s whiskers to the more complicated curved humps on a camel’s back and the zig-zagged lines of a king’s crown. Many pages offer helpful tips for the parents and all are sturdy enough to manage, but not so thick as to be difficult to cut.

My 3 year-old son began using scissors in practical life applications a few months before we purchased the preschool kit. We tried these cutting workbooks the first week and discovered that he wasn't quite ready for them. After six weeks, of cutting open numerous packages and snipping a few dozen paper strips into bits, he was ready to try again. He is very proud to be working through these engaging, colorful, cutting activities!
My three year old and four year old absolutely loved these books. Concepts that I had been trying to show them by drawing lines on paper, just weren't interesting. They learned their scissors skills so quickly with these books. I also definitely had to pace them or they would have done the whole book in one setting! Just order the double set for my two year old.
My daughter enjoys this along with the other cutting book that was part of the preschool curriculum. I have already noticed improvement in her cutting skills after a few weeks. It provides a more focused/exciting way to teach scissor skills as opposed to just cutting pieces of paper.
We have this book and the other cutting book and really like them both! The pages are nicely designed, a good weight to the paper, and are easy to cut. More fun to do than just cut an ordinary piece of paper up.
My preschooler would do this book all day if I let her. It's a bit more challenging than another cutting book we have, so it keeps her interest.
