This 2-book set is our advanced biology course. Combined with Exploring Creation With Biology, it gives the student the equivalent of a university biology course. In other words, these two courses together cover the entire "advanced placement" (AP) curriculum. In order to take this course, the student MUST have completed a first-year biology course AND a first-year chemistry course. It covers both the anatomy and the physiology of the human body’s 11 organ systems in detail. With features such as the very helpful year-long daily schedule, lab reports for the experiments, optional fill-in-the-blank summaries for extra practice, study guides, and so much more, you will find the Student Notebook (sold separately) to be an excellent addition to your science curriculum this year.

Without a doubt, Apologia has been setting standards for science textbooks for years. Please note that these textbooks are not for every student. They are massive, detailed and require a fair amount of math. Apologia is perfect for the student who loves science and isn't scared by math. He or she may want to pursue a career in the field, proceed to college, or simply satisfy their thirst for knowledge. A student who does not yet excel at math or will be overwhelmed by the textbook format may lose their zeal for science if forced to proceed down this track.
