An excellent introduction to numerical games, Bata-Waf is a simple card game that preschoolers will love. Each Bata-Waf card has a unique comical dog with a different height and a corresponding number from 1 through 6. The cards have lines and colors that show the height of each dog. It’s easy to play; the tallest dog wins! Children who do not know how to count can easily work out who wins by comparing the size of the dogs. When two dogs are of the same size, that is a Bata-Waf, and the battle temporarily becomes a duel.
Bata-Waf cultivates early numeracy, visual observation, critical thinking, and social/emotional maturity. For multiple players ages 3+.
Deal out all cards to all players. Each card has a dog on it of different heights, with numbers 1 through 6, as well as lines and colors that show each dog’s size.
Each player simultaneously turns one card over from their face-down pile. The player with the tallest dog wins all the cards turned face up. If two or more dogs are of the same height, there is a "bata-waf!"
Each player puts one card face down on their face-up card and then flips a new card. The player with the tallest dog wins all the cards both players dealt out.
End of Game:
The winner is the player with all the cards in his hands!
The biggest dog wins! If 2 dogs are the same size, watch out! There is "Bata-waf"!

Review by The Coulter Coop:
”This is a review/overview video of Bata-Waf, the “war” card game designed for kids!”
”The most critical lesson my preschooler learned from Bata-Waf is how to be a good loser. The tides turn quickly in this game – one minute you have almost all the cards, and then the next you’re handing over half your stack.”
”The older kids and adults in our family grew bored with this game long before the little ones were ready to stop playing. Fortunately, the cute cards lend themselves to lots of variations in game play.”
