Building Thinking Skills
These thinking skills books are among our favorites because of their tremendous scope. They develop four basic analytical skills (similarities/differences, sequences, classification, and analogies) through both figural and verbal problems.

In addition, there are problems dealing with deductive reasoning, map skills, Venn diagrams, mental manipulation of two-dimensional objects, and much more.

Studies have shown that students using these books have raised their national test scores significantly in both content and cognitive tests! What's more, these books are never boring!

Features
Building Thinking Skills Book 1 includes answers, objectives, and focus questions.
Answers are located in the back of this book.

Beginning Thinking Skills Review by The Flanders Family

review by the Flanders Family

”The workbooks are designed to be consumable, but I’ve always preferred to sit with a child on either side of me and work through the exercises together — at least for the beginning books. They think through each problem and take turns pointing to the correct answer.”

Easy to use

Definitely alot of assignments a week but it is great to get the mind thinking, problem solving and reasoning. A great addition to any curriculum.

A favorite!!

I *almost* swapped this out of my custom kit but am so so glad I didn’t! It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before and challenges so many different types of thinking skills! My daughter loves it! Everything I’ve used from the Critical Thinking Co has been AWESOME. Thanks for introducing me to these resources!!

One of my sons’s favorite

This book certainly builds thinking skills. Best part is my son likes working in this book. It’s a great way to start the school day.

Solid but boring

The logic and reasoning involved is solid. My son is definitely using his critical thinking skills and making strides, but it feels like drudgery. There are many significantly more fun ways to learn these skills. I won’t buy another for my younger kids unless they are extremely work book oriented at this stage.

Challenging for my son

I like that this book gets him thinking but sometimes the details are so subtle that even I miss it. I’m going to keep using the book because it has good critical thinking exercises whether it’s from correcting the mistakes or when he gets it correct.
