Do Art Coloring with Clay
Do Art Coloring with Clay is a brilliant clay coloring kit that uses pre-printed boards for children to create amazing, eye-popping works of art. Color areas by pinching off small amounts of clay and pressing them on. Tiny clay balls can be flattened to make the suction pads of a tree frog, while clay rods can be used to fill in larger areas like the lion’s mane.
Your child can marbleize, layer, and blend the 12 vibrant clay colors to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. A special rubber-tipped tool makes blending a snap, and the three double-sided clay tools allow your child to experiment with textures.
Coloring with Clay will guide your child through the creation of the four amusing animal designs with a remarkably helpful booklet. Coloring with Clay includes everything your child will need to complete these treasured works of art.
Age Recommendation: 5+
This activity held my daughters attention for over an hour. She was able to create and enjoy with minimal mess. Great product just wish it had more pages.
My 5 year old had fun with this! He loved using the tools for cutting and shaping. The clay was a little hard for him to squish around, so I did some pre-squishing for him and it helped. I think once the clay gets used more it'll be easier to do. The animal cards were a little smaller than I expected but it was actually a perfect size! The mat that came with it, however, was a bit too small. We used it for creating, and then used a separate bigger mat that we had to put all the clay on. Overall, it was fun and we're excited to play with it more!
The boards were a little smaller than I expected and that made it difficult for my boys (6, 7.5) to have the patience to roll the clay small enough to fit some of the sections. They did have fun swirling some of the clay colors and planning their project, but it didn't last long before they were too frustrated with the small spaces. Ultimately, they lost interest pretty quickly. Thankfully, the clay doesn't dry out, so I've put it away to try again in about 6 months or so. It looks like a lot of fun to me, and I'd sure enjoy it if I could do the project for them! I'm pretty sure part of the problem lies with the size of the project boards and partly with my kids' lack of readiness for this type of project. I look forward to trying again.
We ordered this to go with our Kindergarten curriculum, but decided not to use it yet. The 'coloring pages' are much smaller than I expected, and difficult for little hands.
Very fun and inspires creativity. My 8yr old is less creative and was reluctant to participate, but found himself having fun in time and was excited the dough doesn't dry out so the cards can be traded and re-done. My 12 yr old had a blast too. Instructions are brief and easy, comes with great tools. Happy mom, worthwhile purchase, happy kids- creating together without devices, without arguing or fighting- a total win. CaNot think of any negatives!
