What's in the Eighth-Grade Kit
Eighth grade is the bridge to high school work. Math moves into Algebra 1, and science shifts to physical science.Your child studies Shakespeare through a graphic novel (a format that makes the language more accessible), works on creative writing, and builds vocabulary through word roots. STEM includes aviation fundamentals and hands-on projects building mechanical circuits.
Classic and nonreligious kits differ in history and include an additional science resource in the classic kit. Compare tiers below to see what’s included, and use the customizer to swap anything that isn’t the right fit.

We asked the families who used our 8th grade kit how long their students spent on "school." Most of the families worked on academics 4 or 5 days a week and spent 3-5 hours a day specifically on Timberdoodle materials. It is common for families to spend more or less time than that, so don't stress if your schedule doesn't exactly match up. And, of course, the time you spend will be greatly impacted by how in-depth your student takes their studies, their learning approach, how distractible they allow themselves to be, and much more.
