This Earth Science Notebooking Journal is designed to be used with Exploring Creation with Earth Science. The Young Explorer Series is a favorite science program for young scientists and with good reason. The Charlotte Mason approach provides lots of information in a readable, engaging format. Lessons are designed to be spread over multiple weeks, with significant portions devoted to hands-on experiments and notebook keeping.
Notebook keeping is simply a system for assisting your child in documenting what he has learned in each lesson. With this book, your child will write out the highlights of the lesson. If your child is young or doesn't enjoy writing, you can instead use the Junior Notebooking Journal, available separately. This approach helps your child think through what he has learned, distill it down to its most basic level, and communicate it effectively. If he can't reiterate it well, he probably doesn't grasp it.
With ready-to-use pages, as well as many pages of full-color supplements, the spiral-bound Earth Science Notebooking Journal includes:
A suggested schedule for completing the readings, notebook assignments, activities, and experiments utilizing a two-day-per-week plan.
Templates for completing the Notebooking Activities.
Creative templates for completing the Notebooking assignments.
Vocabulary activities to learn essential terms.
Project pages and other sheets for your student to keep records of experiments, projects, and activities completed throughout the course.
Beautiful, full-color Miniature Books for your student to create, encouraging him to record facts and information learned in each lesson.
Helpful and engaging graphics to help your student visualize and understand concepts.

Yes, it is! The series is designed to be used in any order, so you can choose to start with whatever topic most interests your child.
Some of the books in the series have content that is a bit more advanced than others. In particular, Earth Science, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and Chemistry & Physics are better suited for upper elementary grades. Nonetheless, younger students can choose to complete these, and the Junior Notebooking Journals will aid them in absorbing the concepts at their level.
