Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh traveled to Provence, a region in southeastern France, seeking the light that could make his paintings pop. Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh is Djeco’s scratch art interpretation of Van Gogh’s paintings done during that time. By scratching through dark ink to uncover a colored layer beneath, your student will create four display-worthy boards. Follow the full-color instruction booklet and embellish parts of the scratch artboards with simple zentangle-like patterns or scratch off large areas to reveal hidden surprises. Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh will boost your child’s fine motor and visual discernment skills. It may also give him a greater appreciation for an artist who was both brilliant and tormented.
Note: Each Djeco booklet includes examples of other works by the same artist who designed the kit. Depending on the artist, these other works may be whimsical, quirky, or dark. Parents may wish to preview the booklet to remove or cover any troubling pages.
This kit includes 4 artboards, each taking 30-60 minutes to complete.
Inspired by the style of Vincent Van Gogh, Muriel Kurba brings you patterns to recreate by scratching away the surface of these 4 cards to reveal the illustrations below.

Review by Just a Mom Trying to Make It Happen:
”This was really a unique art kit. I love scratch arts in general but this one added an extra element. The book comes with a brief little snippet of who Van Gogh was. It makes it perfect to use with an older child and tie it in with an art history lesson.”
”There is really no right or wrong way to complete the Inspired by Van Gogh projects. My mother and the kids followed the instructions closely, but I viewed the photo guidelines more as suggestions — just one among countless ways to complete the pictures.”
”Inspired By Vincent Van Gogh is scratch art with an artistic twist. As you scratch the surface of the cards with the wooden stylus you will gradually uncover artist Muriel Yerba's interpretation of Van Gogh's paintings. The hidden motifs designed by Muriel Yerba pop with brilliant colors and fun patterns as they emerge.”
”Our children love art – especially our seven-year-old daughter. She is always asking me if we can make a craft, paint, or sew. She loves expressing herself in art and music. But I don't always like the prep work and cleanup required. So, I love art kits like Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh because everything we need is in one package with minimal clean-up needed.”
”This is one art kit that I would recommend because it is easy to do and you can turn it into a lesson for history if you like by having your child learn about Vincent Van Gogh as well. These are easy enough that your child can do them without any help from you so if you need something to occupy your child while you are doing something then this one can keep their interest for quite awhile.”
