Kumon Let's Cut Paper
Learning to safely use a pair of scissors seems to universally bring extraordinary joy to young children. In Kumon’s two-book Let's Cut Paper series, your child will learn how to hold and control scissors, and will proceed from the simple one-stroke cuts of a dog’s whiskers to the more complicated curved humps on a camel’s back and the spiral of a chameleon's tail. Many pages offer helpful tips for the parents and all are sturdy enough to manage, but not so thick as to be difficult to cut.

From the Publisher:
Learning to safely use a pair of scissors is an important part of preparing for school and play activities. These workbooks are for children who have never used scissors before. Children will learn how to hold and control a pair of scissors, and will advance from simple one-stroke cuts all the way to cutting complicated curved and zig-zagged lines and shapes.

”Kumon Let’s Cut Paper is one of the best scissor skills book for toddlers and preschoolers. They’re so fun, they might even keep the kiddos from cutting little sister’s hair!”

    review by Thanks Mommy

”My youngest (age 4) has been dying to learn how to use scissors and I simply haven’t had the time or patience but these books made it all so much easier for both of us. It was nice for me to sit back and just watch without having to worry much or prepare anything in advance.”

    Fun for my boys

I have 4 year old twin boys and they love cutting things out. We started when they were 3 and they love being able to use scissors. I highly recommend these books!

Colorful fun learning to use scissors

Kumon product once again delivers with correct age labeling and building in complexity from page 1 to the end. Great product!

    Makes a World of Difference

We used this for our 4 year old and immediately noticed how much better his penmanship and pencil control was vs our older boy. Our 7yo would even ask our 4yo to cut things for him or trace things for him because even he saw how much better his little brother did with that.
Since it was such a game changer, we ordered a set for our 7 year old and let me tell you...WOW. He's able to cut like a pro now and his penmanship went from scribbly dr writing to legible and mostly neat.
This product seemed too basic AT FIRST, in my opinion. But im glad we stuck with it because it really did do wonders for 2 of our kids so far.
Would recommend a thousand times over.

    Great idea!

My girl loves these books. She gets so excited to use the scissors and this helps her learn control and how to make different cuts. We started this when she was 2 and she did well but we are saving the second book for next year because she will have a bit more control and enjoy it even more.

    Impressed My Son's Preschool Teacher

The first few pages were a little difficult for by 3-year-old son, but he quickly increased his skills and loved the animals and pictures in this set so much we bought another one in the Kumon series. I saved all of his work and showed him his "portfolio" at the end when I presented the certificate from the book. I think it really helped build his confidence in cutting and learning in general. We also bought another popular brand for additional practice, but he didn't like it nearly as much. Furthermore, when he started an outdoor mixed-age "summer camp" program about 4 months later with kids who were mostly 5 and 6 years old, his teacher marveled at his use of advanced scissor skills, which he learned from the Kumon books. It was a moment that really sold me on the Timberdoodle curriculums.
