My Big Wimmelbook - Fire Trucks!
Loosely translated as a book of abundance, Wimmelbooks are one-of-a-kind oversized board books that use few words, yet provide endless opportunity for curious kids to discover, learn, and increase vocabulary.
Hugely popular in Germany and around the world, here’s how Wimmelbooks work: At the beginning of each Wimmelbook, children are introduced to a cast of about a dozen characters such as police officer Rosario, Carlos the chief, or Spot the dog. As your child flips through the book, he will be looking for those characters hidden in plain sight among the hustle and bustle of their Wimmelworld. Each character has a different storyline that unfolds from page to page as he moves through the depicted scenes.
Toddlers will love finding items and actions already familiar to them like helicopters, bicyclists, and rambunctious pets. Preschoolers will engage with the Wimmelbooks at the next level because they can track and find the characters in each new display. With practice, they will then be able to fabricate a storyline that fits the various scenes. Plus, there is so much going on in each spread that there is always one more story that can be told or situation that can be speculated on. For instance, why did the truck overturn, or how do you rescue dozens of pigs from a flood?
Wimmelbooks provide parents with a rich opportunity to ask questions, discovering what their child knows, while encouraging them to add depth to their creative narrative. We were able to preview a mockup of the Wimmelbooks last summer with our three-year-old twins, and they provided hours of discussion about topics that had never occurred to us. Develop your child’s cognitive skills of collecting clues, exploring, and telling stories with the Wimmelbooks.

This has been a favorite in our household for several months now. It's fairly heavy duty and so engaging. At 2, the little guy just searches for certain characters from page to page and we talk about different activities, but this will grow with him and he can get into the story telling later on. It's really fantastic and we've gotten tons of use out of it already.
Wimmelbooks are really sweet. It's busy with lots to look at and talk about. The book sparks all sorts of conversations and learning opportunities - enjoy laughing and chatting with your child.
I bought this for my toddler cousin. He loves it! He’s loves to look at the fire trucks and I was told this is one of his favorite books!
My 4 and 6 yr olds love this book. There are no words to read. Pictures and your imagination tell the story. We also use it for counting (i.e. how many fire trucks, dogs, etc do you see?) A great tool!
