Pirates Crossfire
In Pirates Crossfire, ages 7 through adult, every challenge is a battle of logic, positioning, and line of sight. Using pirate ships, navy ships, and rocky islands, players must determine exactly where each piece belongs to satisfy the puzzle's firing rules.
The game includes 80 challenges and four distinct puzzle modes. In Peace Mode, no ships may have a clear shot at an enemy. In Pirates Win Mode, every navy ship must be in a pirate's sights while the pirates remain protected. Navy Ships Win reverses the objective, while Total War requires every ship to be vulnerable to attack.
Each puzzle begins with the islands in place and sometimes a few ship locations revealed. From there, players must position all remaining ships, paying close attention to orientation. Cannons fire only from the sides of each ship, never from the front or back, and islands and other ships can block firing lines. A single rotation can completely change the solution.
As challenges become more difficult, players strengthen spatial reasoning, deductive thinking, planning, concentration, and problem-solving skills while learning to evaluate multiple possibilities before committing to a move.

How to Use Pirates Crossfire
- Choose a challenge and place the two rocky islands on the game board as shown. Some puzzles will also show the location of a few ships to help you get started.
- Study the challenge mode before placing any pieces. In Peace Mode, no ships may fire at an enemy. In Pirates Win and Navy Ships Win, only one side should have a clear shot. In Total War, every ship must be vulnerable to attack.
- Place all seven ships on the board, paying close attention to both position and orientation. Remember that cannons fire only from the sides of a ship, never from the front or back.
- As you work, look carefully at each firing line. Islands, rocks, and even other ships can block cannon fire, while open spaces may create unexpected lines of sight. Sometimes a single rotation is all it takes to solve—or ruin—a puzzle.
- If you get stuck, remove a few ships and reconsider the clues rather than relying on trial and error. The strongest strategy is to think through which ships must be protected, which ships must have a target, and how obstacles affect the board.
- Start with the easier challenges to learn how the firing rules work, then gradually work your way toward the Master-level puzzles. The difficulty increases steadily, giving players time to develop stronger spatial reasoning and deductive-thinking skills.
- With 80 challenges to solve, Pirates Crossfire is easy to revisit throughout the year for logic practice, travel entertainment, or a quick brain workout between lessons.

With 80 challenges to solve, this is one that will keep the kids thinking and strategizing for hours. We've even taken it in the car with us since it's somewhat portable. Pirates Crossfire has four modes of play: nobody can fire at each other, the pirates can fire at the navy, the navy can fire at the pirates, and everybody fires at each other. In each situation, all pieces must be used, and while there are many ways to fill the game board, there is only one correct solution! The challenges range in difficulty from easy to complex. This game is absolutely perfect for a rainy day! To start, you simply put the rocks/islands where the challenge states and then use the pieces to try and fit them in according to the challenge. It can be more challenging that you think to get all the pieces to work, plus trying to make sure the cannons aren't pointing the wrong way. This game is geared toward ages 7 and up. My 6 year old found it a bit challenging, but still had fun. My 11 year old LOVED it!
