Sarah's Silks Playsilk - Rainbow
According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the best toys for babies are simple, uncomplicated ones that assist them in gaining important skills. So before your baby becomes enamored with battery-eating, limited-use, disposable toys, introduce him to the wonderfully durable natural material, silk.
Inspire Creativity & Imagination
Simple and natural, PlaySilks have been recommended for nearly one hundred years to encourage children to use their imagination and creativity. The sumptuously soft feel of PlaySilks is ideal for developing babies. Wispy enough for a tiny baby to manipulate, PlaySilks provide a wonderful sensory experience. They are great for "peek-a-boo," and the lovely texture and translucency of the PlaySilk makes it ideal for "hiding and finding" games with your baby. Easily stuffed into a diaper bag or purse, PlaySilks make a soft, filmy, easy-to-pack comfy for traveling little ones.
Sarah's Silks Provide Hours of Imaginative Play
As your babies grow, so does the versatility of their PlaySilks. Little girls can become princesses, and little boys can become dragon-slayers. Wrap a baby doll, hoist a flag, or just set the table for a tea party; there are unlimited hours of open-ended play with a PlaySilk.
This Natural Toy Is Remarkably Durable
Silk is remarkably durable and can withstand years of play. We recommend hand-washing with warm water and a mild soap, then drying in a dryer set on low for a few minutes to restore the softness and remove wrinkles. For some odd reason, many children enjoy washing their PlaySilks and hanging them outside to dry. It is a wonderfully peaceful experience, so let them do this often!
Light, flowing silk. Hand hemmed. Dyed with non-toxic dyes in the USA. Packaged in a lively paper wrapper that gives ideas for play. Safety tested for ages 3+.
I really wanted to buy this for my daughter when she was a baby still, bu I wasn't able to until recently (she is now 16 months old). I'm pregnant so I figured if she didn't like it the new baby would get use out f it. I really underestimated the versatility of the silk! The kids (she has two older siblings) all use this for a variety of things, and I love seeing them get so excited about a toy that doesn't operate on batteries or make obnoxious sounds. Great for 6 months-5 years ;)
The Playsilk is great fun for my granddaughter and encourages her imagination. It's a simple, quality, multi-use "toy" that will be fun for years to come.
I purchased this playsilk for a Christmas present for my 19 month old. My 4.5 year old son is on the autism spectrum and took off with it. We have had it a few days but the giggles have been nonstop. We have used it for Peek a boo, hiding, blowing skills, throwing skills it's been used as a baby blanket, rope, a carry all, and a head covering. We have also been using this as a positive reinforcer for developing appropriate play (sharing and trading) skills. It reminds me of the juggle silks I had in school just bigger.
Let me start out by saying that I fully intended to replace this in my curriculum kit. I thought the price was crazy for a piece of silk! Then, I looked up buying a comparable piece of silk as well as the dyes to hand dye it. It would have ended up being just as much if not more! Not to mention, I'm not so artsy, so it would have undoubtedly come out hideous. :) When it arrived, I was *so* surprised! It's absolutely beautiful and my kids (girls ages 5, 4 and almost 3 and boy, 1) went crazy over it! 2/3 girls asked to sleep with it the first night! It has been used as a cape, a kite, a hot air balloon, a hood, a lovey... It has really inspired their imaginations. I will be purchasing 2 more with absolutely no reservations, because they are worth every cent.
You cannot go wrong with Sarah's silks. I haven't used them with babies, but my older chidren have enjoyed all of the ones they have had. They can tie it on their head and be a pirate, around their shoulders for a cape, twirl it around while dancing, swaddle a baby doll....the list goes on and on! Such a great thing to expand our children's imagination and encourage good old fashion fun. You won't stop with buying just one@
