In many ways we are the same. In small, yet fascinating ways we are different. In This Is How We Do It: One Day in the Lives of Seven Kids from Around the World, your kindergartner gets a snapshot of what a normal day looks like for seven kids from Italy, Japan, Iran, India, Peru, Uganda, and Russia. From the homes they live in and the schools they attend to the games they play, This Is How We Do It will give your child a peek into the traditions that may differ and the patterns that remain the same.

Both my kindergartner and my second grader enjoy the pages of this book. We do one page per week so extend out the lesson, and then we'll start at the beginning and read through it once more. They are fascinated to learn that not everyone lives the way we do. Great learning resource to explore cultural differences.
This is probably my favorite book to read with my kids- such a genius idea, but when I realized these were real families around the world I was moved to tears! Love the concept, love exposing my kids to other cultures. Beautifully done.
I love this book! It takes you through the every day life of kids in different countries. I'll pull this book out throughout the years to come, this is a keeper!
This was a cute book. Looking at the lives of kids around the world and the activities that make up their day. It felt stuck at cute though. My boys easily picked out similarities and differences between their days and the ones in the book but the information wasn't easily retained in our house. My boys were much more interested in finding out where the child in the book was from and googling information like flags, maps, and pictures of the country itself.
My daughters did Kindergarten and Third Grade this year and we all loved this book. It's presented as "a day in the life" and you follow seven children through their day. Kids naturally compare and contrast and take in details of other cultures throughout the world. My girl's love the daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner pages, and they asked if we can have a week where we eat just like all the kids in the book. Sounds like a blast, but I've no idea where I'd find all the ingredients! This book is a beautiful hardcover with lovely art and a welcome addition to any home.
