Pet ownership mushroomed during the recent pandemic, causing such a high demand for dogs that some shelters ran out of adoptable dogs! Adapting to a new furry friend can be chaotic even without the added burden of social distancing.
With Walk the Dog, your student will recreate likely scenarios and then use logic and deduction skills to keep the dogs from disaster. Three different dog-walkers, each with a leash of a specific length and a stipulation that all leashes need to be taut and cannot cross, is a great place to start. Then add in the rule that no pets can be adjacent. Throw in a tree and a couple of cats: you now have a game that develops planning, spatial insight, problem-solving, and concentration skills. There are 80 challenges, from easy to expert.
Select a challenge. If needed, place the Cat(s) and tree on the game board. These pieces must remain in place on the board. If a Cat or tree is not shown in the challenge, you don’t need it in the solution.
Place all 4 Dogs on the game board so that the solution follows the rules given in the challenge. Leashes must be straight and tense. Dogs can never be placed adjacent to other dogs or cats. Leashes can bend around trees.
There is only one solution which can be found at the back of the booklet.
