Can I Use ESA or Charter Funds for Homeschool Curriculum?
Yes. ESA, scholarship, and charter school funds can all be spent on homeschool curriculum. How you order depends on your state: some programs have you shop a marketplace such as Odyssey or MyScholarShop, and others let you shop our website and pay with TheoPay or ClassWallet.

How do I use Step Up For Students at Timberdoodle?
Florida's Step Up For Students is the largest scholarship program we serve. If your family is in the Personalized Education Program (PEP) or has a Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA), your education funds can go toward Timberdoodle curriculum kits and individual items.
Per Step Up's 2026-27 payment schedule, quarterly funds reach families on or shortly after August 1 (September 1 for new students), November 1, February 1, and April 1. Ordering soon after your deposit means your curriculum arrives in time for your planned start date.

How does the Hope Scholarship work with Timberdoodle?
West Virginia families use Hope Scholarship funds for Timberdoodle kits and individual curriculum all year long. You shop timberdoodle.com like any other customer, then check out using your TheoPay browser extension. There's no separate portal to learn and no vendor list to search.
Hope deposits arrive quarterly (August 15, October 15, January 15, and April 15) so you can order a full kit up front or spread purchases across the year.

Which states order through Odyssey?
Six programs run their ordering through the Odyssey marketplace, and Timberdoodle items are available in it:
- Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) launched in July 2026. Texas homeschoolers have education funds ($2,000 a year) for the first time, and many Timberdoodle items are already available through the marketplace.
- Utah Fits All is running while a court appeal is pending.
- Georgia Promise Scholarship families receive up to $6,500 for 2026-27, and order through Odyssey too, in both editions. Georgia orders reach us every week.
- LA GATOR is Louisiana's education savings program, also on Odyssey.
- Wyoming's Education Savings Account gives homeschooling families $7,000 a year, ordered through Odyssey.
- MOScholars, Missouri's scholarship program, orders through Odyssey as well.
In each case: sign in to your program's Odyssey marketplace, search for Timberdoodle or the specific item you want, and place the order there. Your program pays Timberdoodle directly. Nothing comes out of your pocket.
Which states order through ClassWallet?
We currently serve families in:
- Alabama CHOOSE Act allows $2,000 per homeschool student, up to $4,000 per family
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Indiana Education Scholarship Account for students with disabilities and their siblings.
- New Hampshire Children's Scholarship Fund NH.
- North Carolina ESA for students with disabilities.
- South Carolina Education Scholarship Trust Fund for 2026-27 is full at 15,000 students.

Can charter school families use their funds here?
Yes, and this one works everywhere. Charter, virtual, and public school programs in every state can send us a purchase order. We ship to schools nationwide, not just the states named above. Charter programs in many states share instructional funds with enrolled families, and Timberdoodle has worked with charter purchase orders for years.
Most charters can't fund religious materials, so charter families order the Nonreligious edition (more on the two editions below).
Your charter's process usually runs through an approved-vendor list and a purchase order. If Timberdoodle isn't on your charter's list yet, ask them to add us. It usually takes one request. More on how these programs work: How Do Charter Schools Work?
Can I use Washington parent partnership or ALE funds at Timberdoodle?
Yes, and we've been filling these orders since 2015.
Washington doesn't run an ESA. What it has instead is parent partnership and Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs, run by school districts, and those work the same way as the charter process above: your program's purchasing office sends us a purchase order, and nothing comes out of your pocket. Every district keeps its own approved list and its own ordering window.
Because this is public money, most Washington programs can't put it toward religious materials, so the Nonreligious edition is the usual pick.

What can I actually buy with ESA or scholarship funds?
Curriculum and educational materials, which is everything we sell. How much of that you can order depends on your program: some carry our full selection, and others list a narrower set of items.
If you don't see what you want in your program's marketplace, email us at customerservice@timberdoodle.com and we'll tell you what's available to you. Families most often put funds toward:
- A complete curriculum kit. One order covers every subject for the year, from phonics to STEM, with the Timberdoodle Scheduler and a printed handbook included. Explore the kits.
- A customized kit. Swap any item that isn't the right fit before you order, if your program allows customizing. Not all of them do.
- Individual items. Fill gaps in what you already own: a math level, a science bundle, thinking skills, art.
One note on editions: every kit comes in two. Classic includes some Christian materials, and Nonreligious is built without them. Most funding programs require non-religious materials, so the Nonreligious edition is the usual pick with program funds. Families buying with personal funds pick whichever edition fits their home.
When should I order?
The Monday after Step Up's August deposit was our busiest Step Up day in three weeks: know your deposit date, and order within the first week or two after funds land. August orders arrive in time for a Labor Day start, and you get the calmest weeks of our warehouse's year.
What if my program isn't listed?
Ask us. The list of programs we work with keeps growing. Some programs pay through platforms like ClassWallet, some reimburse receipts, and some send purchase orders. We've been doing this since 1985, and our team handles program and school orders every day.

Common questions
Is Timberdoodle an approved vendor for my program?
We're available in the marketplaces named above, and charter programs add us by request. Vendor lists change, so check your program's portal, and if you don't see us, email us and we'll pursue it.
Will I be charged anything myself?
When your program orders directly (marketplace or purchase order), the program is billed; you aren't. If you ever see a balance-due line on a program order, that's the amount your program pays, not you.
Can I use funds for either edition?
Both editions are real curriculum, and your program's rules decide. Most programs fund the Nonreligious edition; Classic is there for families whose program allows it or who are buying with their own funds.
My award won't cover a whole kit. What then?
Kits come in three levels (Basic, Complete, and Elite), and many programs allow customizing a kit, so there's a version that fits your award. Individual items work too.
Do you take Step Up orders directly?
No. Step Up purchases go through MyScholarShop, Step Up's marketplace. If its search doesn't surface what you need, email us at customerservice@timberdoodle.com and we'll help you find it there.
Do I need to send you my order confirmation?
No. A program order reaches us on its own.
Can I buy one item from a kit with program funds?
Some items are only sold in kits; a custom kit is the way to get them.
