Asteroid Escape transforms a compact 3×3 game board into a surprisingly challenging spatial reasoning puzzle. Using eight puzzle pieces representing asteroids and a spaceship, players must slide and reposition obstacles to create a path to safety.
Each of the 60 challenges begins with a specific setup. The goal is to guide the spaceship out of the asteroid field, but blocked pathways and limited movement require careful planning and logical thinking to find the solution.
As players progress through the increasingly difficult challenges, they strengthen spatial reasoning, visual perception, problem-solving, strategic planning, and flexible thinking.
The compact design makes Asteroid Escape easy to take on road trips, use during quiet time, or pull out whenever a quick brain workout is needed.
With 60 challenges and solutions included for checking work, Asteroid Escape offers a satisfying blend of logic, persistence, and puzzle-solving fun.
How to Play Asteroid Escape
- Choose a challenge from the booklet and set up the puzzle pieces on the game board as shown.
- Slide the asteroids one piece at a time, looking for a path that will allow the spaceship to escape the asteroid field. Asteroids may move into open spaces, but they cannot overlap one another or the spaceship.
- Take your time and think several moves ahead. The early challenges help you learn the movement rules, while later puzzles require more planning and careful observation.
- If a solution isn't immediately obvious, try working backward from the exit or repositioning a few key asteroids before starting again. Persistence is often part of the puzzle.
- Completing one or two challenges each week provides a steady stream of logic practice throughout the school year.
- When you get stuck, solutions are included for checking your work—but try solving it yourself first. The real reward comes from discovering the path out on your own.

All of my kids have enjoyed playing this game! They range in age from 2-13. The challenges are fun and have different levels of difficulty. This game is great for “brain breaks” throughout the school day.

An excellent gift and learning tool

I actually got this as a birthday gift for my 9 year old stepson who is not homeschooled, but takes an interest in space, puzzles and problem solving. He's a clever boy who gets bored easily because he can solve most puzzles etc. very quickly. Well he came to me wide eyed saying this is easily the hardest puzzle game he's ever had. My husband chuckled and did the whole "let me show you how it's done son" thing and came back after 20 minutes, also wide eyed, saying this game is HARD. The description and previous reviews are not lying when they say this game is tough and will put your problem solving skills to the test. This is not to say the game isn't fun, it is and I am SO glad I bought it. But this is maybe not a game for the easily frustrated child. It takes time and patience. I'd give this to a patient child who likes/needs a challenge if you need a break and want to give them an educational distraction that doesn't come from a screen.

Challenging!

This game is fun and challenging. It starts off with easier puzzles and then gets harder as you go along. My second grader did well and really enjoyed it until the harder levels and then we had a lot of tears and patience was easily lost. It became no longer fun and something that was dreaded. It was fun when the puzzles were challenging but now it seems too hard. I have put this game away and plan to try it again in a year or so. I think we need to work on more patience first before reintroducing it again. This game, however, is excellent and still gets 5 stars, we will just be doing the harder levels later!

This year we are studying astronomy and this was a fun game to add to our curriculum. My son age 6 enjoyed solving the different puzzles and it kept him engaged. It is similar to other logic games but creative in using asteroids.
