How to Play Battle Sheep
- Build the pasture together before you begin. Since the playing field changes every game, setting up the pasture tiles becomes part of the fun and ensures no two matches unfold quite the same way.
- Once everyone has chosen a color and stacked their sheep, place your starting flock carefully. Your opening position matters more than you might expect and can shape your strategy for the entire game.
- On each turn, split one of your sheep stacks into two groups and move the new stack as far as possible in a straight line. The rules are simple, but the decisions are not. Every move affects future opportunities for both you and your opponents.
- Encourage your child to think a few turns ahead. Is it better to claim new territory now, block an opponent's expansion, or preserve space for a future move? The strongest players learn to balance offense and defense at the same time.
- As you play, talk. Which move opened up the most pasture? Which one accidentally gave an opponent an advantage? These quick conversations help children develop stronger strategic thinking without turning game night into a lesson.

Great Family Fun

I will be honest, when I first looked at this I wasn't sure we were going to like it. I took a chance and am glad I did. The whole family has a blast playing this game and it really does make you use your brain in a beneficial way. I am noticing some changes in my thinking and my kids when solving problems and even in their schoolwork. I love it when they don't even know they are learning and that is just what this game does!

A great thinking game

You have to pay attention and think in this game, sometimes a couple moves ahead. It’s good for strategy and planning skills. The game board is nice quality and the game pieces are excellent. They feel nice and sturdy and the sheep images are cute and funny. I like that the game is different each time since you can put the board together differently. I would recommend this fun game!

Timberdoodle sells great games and this one is no exception! It’s quick and fun! It can be simple for younger kids and very strategic for older kids. I typically play with my 5 and 8 year old and we have a great time. The 5 year old works to the best of his ability and the 8 year old and I really try to outsmart each other. I probably will buy this game as a gift for other families as well. Highly recommend!
