What happens when simple rules meet surprisingly deep strategy? Battle Sheep turns a pasture full of sheep into a fast-moving game of territory control, planning, and clever positioning that keeps both children and adults coming back for rematches.
The goal sounds simple: spread your flock across the board and claim more pasture than your opponents. The challenge comes from deciding when to expand, when to block, and when to cut off a rival before they fence you out of valuable space. Every move changes the landscape, rewarding players who think ahead while staying flexible when plans go sideways.
Because the board is built from modular pasture tiles, no two games are exactly alike. Each new setup creates different opportunities, challenges, and strategies, giving your child repeated chances to test new ideas and improve decision-making skills from one game to the next.
Battle Sheep develops strategic thinking, spatial reasoning, planning, and problem-solving skills without feeling like a lesson. The rules are easy to learn, making it accessible for younger players, but the gameplay offers enough depth to keep older siblings, teens, and adults fully engaged.
The high-quality components are built to withstand years of family game nights. The sturdy cardboard pasture tiles and thick plastic sheep tiles hold up beautifully through repeated play, making this a game that earns its place on the shelf.
Easy to learn, quick to play, and surprisingly competitive, Battle Sheep is the kind of strategy game that often ends with someone saying, "One more round."

For all ages
Tricia
While this is only on the youngest's schedule, everyone else frequently stops their work to join in. Fun and well made.

Great Family Fun

I will be honest, when I first looked at this I wasn't sure we were going to like it. I took a chance and am glad I did. The whole family has a blast playing this game and it really does make you use your brain in a beneficial way. I am noticing some changes in my thinking and my kids when solving problems and even in their schoolwork. I love it when they don't even know they are learning and that is just what this game does!

It took us a bit to figure out how the game worked, but once you have a feeling for this game it becomes a family favorite quickly. My youngest will be learning it this year in her core and I cannot wait (nor can she!).

A great game for future empire-builders!
Elizabeth D.
Anyone who loves Settlers of Catan and similar empire-building games will want this for their kiddos. Not a game for anyone who feels deeply uncomfortable teaching about colonialism in history!

Winner for a great family game night.

We enjoy games that are more strategy and less on luck. This is a good strategy game for the kids, and adults. Fun way to spend a family game night.

A great thinking game
Jen
You have to pay attention and think in this game, sometimes a couple moves ahead. It’s good for strategy and planning skills. The game board is nice quality and the game pieces are excellent. They feel nice and sturdy and the sheep images are cute and funny. I like that the game is different each time since you can put the board together differently. I would recommend this fun game!

Fun game!

Timberdoodle sells great games and this one is no exception! It’s quick and fun! It can be simple for younger kids and very strategic for older kids. I typically play with my 5 and 8 year old and we have a great time. The 5 year old works to the best of his ability and the 8 year old and I really try to outsmart each other. I probably will buy this game as a gift for other families as well. Highly recommend!

Our family is really enjoying this game once we got the concept down. It comes out at least once a week in our homeschool classroom. Fun across the ages. Would definitely recommend to others.
