Bear Grylls Survival Camp
For the child who would rather follow an explorer across a frozen wilderness than memorize dates from a timeline, Bear Grylls Survival Camp offers a fresh approach to history and geography. Through real expeditions, dramatic survival stories, and fascinating locations around the globe, this book brings both subjects to life in a way that feels more like an adventure than a lesson.
Each chapter introduces a different expedition, challenge, or remote destination. From polar landscapes and rugged mountains to dense jungles and unforgiving deserts, your child encounters the people, places, and obstacles that shaped real-world journeys. Along the way, he'll discover how climate, terrain, weather, and natural resources influenced the decisions explorers made and the outcomes they faced.
The survival focus adds an extra layer of engagement. As your child follows these adventures, he'll encounter practical survival skills, problem-solving strategies, and examples of perseverance under pressure. The result is a book that naturally encourages critical thinking while satisfying a child's appetite for action and adventure.
Packed with illustrations, maps, and fascinating facts, Bear Grylls Survival Camp is especially appealing to reluctant readers and hands-on learners. It strengthens geographic knowledge, introduces important historical expeditions, and helps children understand how people interact with their environments.
Whether used for independent reading or as a geography supplement, this is the kind of book that turns a passing interest in explorers into an afternoon spent studying polar expeditions, tracing routes on maps, or learning how adventurers survive in some of the world's harshest environments.
Bear Grylls Survival Camp delivers history, geography, exploration, and survival in a format that's hard to put down.

Great book!

We probably won’t be getting caught in quicksand or climbing Mount Everest anytime soon, but this is a great book with some helpful facts!

Unexpected gut wrenching facts
Busy L.
Beware of the age suggestion of the book and maturity of child being given this literature to read, especially if unsupervised. I’ve counted three drawings of skeletons, and one particularly disturbing drawing of a man whose eye is out of its socket. There are more than a handful of bodily fluid drawings that include poop and blood. The facts are interesting and if you have a mature reader this is what could be considered a useful book, however I believe it to be a tad on the entertaining side, rather than a manual.

I gave this to my son for Christmas, and he's been pouring over it ever since. It's well-written with engaging text, clarifying illustrations, humorous anecdotes, and lots of useful information -- a huge it with survival enthusiasts like my 14-year-old.

Very Fun Adventure Book
Natalie
Our daughter loved this book. She enjoyed sharing the ideas and facts the book had in it and she even did a few camping adventures in our back yard with her sisters. She would tell them about the book and they would do things based on what they learned. It was rather fun to see from a parents perspective especially when some children are on screens so much. This book got her interested in the outdoors.

Perfect

I got this for my 12 year old who wants to be a Game Warden and loves the outdoors. He poured over this book and kept telling us cool facts. Even when he's not reading it he will just tell us random information that he read in it. His favorite is something gross that hippos do with their tails. I won't spoil the surprise!
