2026 Third-Grade Curriculum Kit
Counting Sheep Without Falling Asleep turns a peaceful pasture into a surprisingly tricky logic puzzle. Using sheep-shaped puzzle pieces, players must fill the game board while making sure every sheep stays safely on one of the four grassy islands separated by winding waterways.
Each of the 60 challenges provides a different set of clues. Early puzzles may show some pieces already placed, while later challenges provide only the number of sheep that belong on each island—or even less information than that. As the difficulty increases, players must rely on careful observation, deductive reasoning, and spatial thinking to find the one correct solution.
The compact format makes this game easy to enjoy during quiet time, on travel, in waiting rooms, or whenever a quick brain workout is in order.
As players work through the challenges, they strengthen planning, concentration, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills while learning to evaluate clues and test possibilities logically.
With 60 increasingly challenging puzzles and solutions included for checking work, Counting Sheep Without Falling Asleep offers plenty of satisfying "aha!" moments for puzzle lovers ages 7 and up.
How to Use Counting Sheep Without Falling Asleep
- Choose a challenge and set up the game board according to the clues provided. Early puzzles offer more guidance, while later challenges require players to rely increasingly on logic and deduction.
- Place the sheep-shaped puzzle pieces on the board, making sure every sheep ends up safely on one of the four grassy islands. As the difficulty increases, you'll need to pay close attention to the clues about how many sheep belong on each island and how the pieces fit together.
- Take your time. The most successful strategies often involve testing possibilities, eliminating options, and carefully studying the relationships between the islands.
- Completing one or two puzzles each week provides a steady dose of logic practice throughout the school year. However, eager puzzlers may happily tackle several challenges in a single sitting.
- If you get stuck, step away for a few minutes and return with fresh eyes. Sometimes the missing piece becomes obvious once you've had a chance to rethink the puzzle.

Counting Sheep Without Falling Asleep is a fun addition to our collection! As with other Smart Games, the puzzles start simple and become more and more challenging as you go through the booklet. My third grader has enjoyed this game (and so have his older siblings!).
