The Write Size Pencils are #2 pencils sized for younger hands. At scarcely over four inches long — about half the length of a standard pencil — they're light and balanced enough that your child can focus on forming letters instead of wrestling a tool that was never his size to begin with. He gets a proper grip the first time instead of clutching halfway up a too-long barrel.
The graphite is extra-thick, which matters more than it sounds. Standard leads snap when a young child presses too hard — and re-sharpening a pencil with lead already broken inside is the kind of frustration that ends a writing session early. The thick core here holds up to real preschool and kindergarten pressure.
