At first glance, the scattered dots may give away almost nothing. Follow them carefully, though, and an American scene gradually takes shape.
Your child might uncover Mount Rushmore, the Kentucky Derby, Route 66, or another recognizable piece of America. Once he's finished, the key in the back identifies the scene and provides interesting facts and details about what he's just drawn.

”You could easily assign these puzzles in lieu of coloring pages for the older kiddos who have bid farewell to the Crayola days. They could work on these to “reveal” what the lesson topic is going to be about that day.”

I could see doing one of these books if you were doing occupational therapy with an older child as it encourages smaller fine tuned movements. But for most students, this is busy work and unnecessary.

This book was a free gift with purchase this year and it fits perfectly into our school year! The pages are numbered very high and older kids will like connecting these dots. I would not recommend for younger kids. They require lots of focus and skill to complete and some learners really enjoy this type of activity, while some may not. My son loves using it for fun on a rainy day or when he feels creative because he can color in the images after he outlines and creates it using colored pencils. We use it to supplement learning about America in America the Beautiful (Notgrass) and they work well together!

These dot to dot books are fun and I like doing ones about our nation. I like that they are challenging, that they stimulate my brain, and that they keep me busy during long car rides. (Daughter age 12)

My second grader really enjoys these! Although they’d obviously be great for older kids too. We’re also using this book as a jumping off point to research places in the US once she’s finished with each page. Love them for the visual scanning practice too!
