The publisher likes to consider the video to be like the "teacher" and the textbook to be like your required classroom book. So this is a supplemental item, but can be incredibly helpful if you want your student's learning to be more independent, you are juggling too many things and could use some help, or you simply think they could benefit from learning it from a gifted educator.

About Friendly Chemistry

When your teen hits high school, chemistry doesn’t have to mean tears, confusion, or a parent hovering with a textbook. Friendly Chemistry is built for independence—yours and his. This full high school credit course is tough enough to prep him for college but friendly enough to actually make sense.

The two-volume Teacher Edition is where all the action is. It walks your student through each of the 32 lessons with clear explanations, worksheets, hands-on activities, and tests—plus answer keys for every assignment. It even includes a “game plan” for every lesson so students know exactly what to do and in what order. You get to hand it over and watch him learn—minimal hand-holding required.

Topics covered include the whole lineup: atomic theory, quantum mechanics, bonding, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, gas laws—you name it. Everything a traditional high school chemistry course would teach, only more understandable. Games, card decks, and clever analogies reinforce the lessons without boring anyone to sleep. And if your kid rolls his eyes at anything with “fun” in the name? No problem. Worksheets cover the same ground without the play.

The manipulatives set is worth it, especially for students who learn best by doing. It includes flashcards, interactive board games, and tools for building compounds and reactions. Labs are practical and use household items—yes, even for stoichiometry. Just take the book for a minute to prep mystery solutions so your student doesn’t accidentally read the answers before doing the lab work.

You don’t need the student edition unless you’ve got multiple learners or really want to keep your teacher copy clean. All worksheets and activities are already in the Teacher Edition.

Used worldwide in public, private, charter, and homeschool settings for over a decade, Friendly Chemistry has earned its reputation for making complex concepts click. With Friendly Chemistry, your student gets to actually understand chemistry—without you needing to relearn the periodic table just to help him out.

Please note: This is not a stand-alone curriculum. You need the text to accompany the video course. The publisher likes to consider the video to be like the "teacher" and the textbook to be like your required classroom book.
