GraviTrax Academy

GraviTrax Academy combines marble-run engineering, logic challenges, and hands-on physics in one expansive construction set. With more than 140 pieces and 18 unique action elements, students build, test, and refine tracks as they explore how gravity, momentum, magnetism, and kinetic energy influence each marble's journey.

The experience begins with guided builds that teach how the system works. As confidence grows, the challenges become more open-ended, providing only a partial setup and a limited selection of pieces. Students must analyze the design, identify what is missing, and complete the track so the marble reaches its destination.

The included GraviTrax Switch logic game adds another layer of challenge with 30 increasingly difficult puzzles that require careful planning and problem-solving. Clues and solutions are available when needed, though the final challenges are intentionally left for determined builders to solve independently.

As students experiment with height, speed, curves, and specialized elements such as the transfer element and magnetic cannon, they gain a practical understanding of engineering principles while developing persistence, spatial reasoning, and creative problem-solving skills.

Part marble run, part construction set, and part physics laboratory, GraviTrax Academy turns abstract STEM concepts into something students can build, test, and experience firsthand.

How to Use GraviTrax Academy

  1. Begin with GraviTrax: Switch and work through the six tutorial cards. These introductory challenges teach the core logic and building concepts used throughout the system.
  2. Next, move into the 30 Switch challenges. Start with the easier puzzles and gradually work toward the more difficult levels, completing a few challenges each week as part of your regular STEM routine.
  3. Once your child is comfortable with the challenge format, begin exploring the larger GraviTrax construction set. Start by replicating the guided track designs to learn how the different elements interact and affect marble movement.
  4. After mastering the guided builds, move on to the open-ended challenges. These provide only part of the setup, requiring your child to determine how the remaining pieces should be arranged for the marble to reach its destination.
  5. Be sure to experiment with the specialty elements, including the transfer add-on, magnetic cannon, and other action pieces. These often inspire students to move beyond the included challenges and begin designing their own tracks.
  6. Alternate between logic challenges and marble-run construction as interest dictates. The combination of structured problem-solving and creative engineering is what makes GraviTrax Academy especially engaging.
As students build, test, revise, and rebuild, they gain hands-on experience with physics, engineering, spatial reasoning, and logical thinking—all while watching their ideas come to life one marble at a time.

    We received GraviTrax in my son's curriculum kit. The first time he opened the box, one of his older siblings helped him set up and get an idea of how it works. Now he is able to set up and make adjustments (if necessary) to complete even the more complicated tracks. GraviTrax is a hit with all ages in our family and it will definitely stay in our rotation.

    I love how Timberdoodle puts these kinds of kits into their curriculum. It gets my kids working with their hands and using their brain in a different way. This has quickly become a new family favorite and both kids are eager to get to it. This is a great incentive to get the rest of their schoolwork done so they can work on it again. Perfect for any family looking to stretch their kids brain power while having fun!
