Gygès
No pieces belong to either player—every move uses whatever's closest. Gygès is a deceptively simple strategy game that rewards creative and flexible thinking.

One smart move can turn into a chain your opponent never saw coming. Gygès is a two-player strategy game where every turn can stretch, redirect, and build into something surprisingly powerful.
Instead of traditional pieces, the game uses smooth metal rings—single, double, and triple—that control exactly how far a piece must travel. Your child can only move pieces from the row closest to him, which quickly narrows options and pushes more thoughtful decisions.
Here's the twist. A ring moves 1, 2, or 3 spaces based on its size, but landing on another ring doesn't end the turn. It launches a new move. One choice can trigger a chain that travels across the board through a series of controlled bounces.
Every turn asks a question. Push toward the opponent's throne or shift pieces to block future paths? Both matter, and a single misplaced ring can hand your opponent a winning route.
Games move quickly, often around 15 minutes, but the thinking keeps stretching. The wooden board and weighted metal rings keep everything grounded, so attention stays on strategy.
It's the kind of game that sharpens planning, builds spatial awareness, and trains your student to think ahead—then pivot fast when the board changes.
