Lab Kit for Science in the Ancient World
Preparing science labs doesn't have to mean searching craft stores, hardware aisles, and kitchen drawers for one elusive supply. The Berean Builders Science in the Ancient World Lab Kit gathers more than 30 experiment materials into one convenient package, so you can spend your time doing science instead of shopping for it.
Designed to accompany the first edition of Science in the Ancient World, this kit includes most of the specialty items needed for the curriculum's hands-on investigations, such as a tree-ring sample, a ramp, wooden spools, and many other experimental supplies. You'll still provide a handful of common household materials and a few fresh grocery items, but the hard-to-find pieces are already taken care of.
As your child completes the experiments, he'll investigate topics including human anatomy, medicine, optics, astronomy, magnets, sound, simple machines, plant growth, density, friction, erosion, combustion, graphing, plastics, and more. Each activity reinforces the concepts taught in the text while giving your child opportunities to observe, build, test, and discover through hands-on exploration.
Whether you're new to Berean Builders or continuing through the series, this lab kit removes much of the preparation so you can focus on learning together rather than gathering supplies.

Box open and supplies in the dirt
ScotFlower
These kits are worth it because its hard to find all those supplies. Its not every supply you need, but its enough to get you started. This set is even more helpful than the set for In the Beginning. Yet, it still did not come with the necessary chemicals. I still need to get sodium bicarbonate, ammonium hydroxide, glacial acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide 30%. I kinda wish chemicals came in the set because I find those harder to pick up than a sytrofoam cup or straws. Also, this year, the Ancient World supply box was crushed and open on delivery. My mom picked it up and multiple supplies fell into the dirt and tried to blow away in the wind. I had to account for every supply to see if anything is missing... and in the end, the styrofoam cup was crushed so i will need to replace it but everything else looks good. There was a white substance on some of the items, I think it may have been the crushed styrofoam cup. Overall, the packaging needs improved. That is the suppliers issue not Timberdoodle's - Timberdoodle's packaging is the best and never had anything damaged from them.

It's worth it to not have to find and buy all of the materials needed.

Great Time Savers

I like these kits because they save me from having to track down everything we need for the experiments. However, I have found that some of the kits are missing a couple things that I feel they could have added. So be prepared to do a little looking, but it definitely saves time.

Cool experiments

My son enjoys these experiments a lot. We do them on the weekends a few at a time. The younger kids always love to watch and want to get involved as well. Fun for the whole family while also learning.

Fun!

I am glad to get the Lab Kit for Science in the Ancient World. Some of these items we would just never have and we might miss out on a fun experiment then.

After going through Science in the Beginning last year without a lab kit, I was excited to have a lab kit to use with Science in the Ancient World. Although none of the items are terribly hard to find, it is a huge convenience to have many of them immediately on hand in this kit. However, some things weren't included that I wish had been, such as clear plastic bottles. We don't buy bottled drinks so I never have them around the house. The biggest issue I had was with the gelatin. Packets of gelatin were included with absolutely no instructions for how to prepare that gelatin. There was no indication of the amount that was in the package, or how much water to use - NOTHING. I tried weighing the package and using a proportional amount of water compared to the instructions for some Jello I had on hand, but that did not work, so one of the packets was wasted. I still have a couple of experiments left that call for gelatin, so I'm going to try calling the Home Science Tools company to see if they can send me some instructions. I will say, I've had a good experience with the company so far. When my kit arrived it was missing the magnets that should have been included. I contacted customer service and they immediately sent them out with no hassle.

This was really worth the money to purchase the kit. Its been such a blessing for me to be able to have everything in one box. I have no excuse not to do the experiments with my kids now.

This was worth every penny to me, for the headache it saved. Locating all the little bits and doodahs for science experiments is always a chore and I run a busy household. We always end up not having something we need and postponing the experiment. This made me not dread science class! Yep it's a bit pricey for what is included, but this is one area I am happy to pay for the convenience. Thank you, Timberdoodle!

CONVENIENT

Note this isn’t full material list, but main portion of hard to find items! Saved so much time and panning! Was so nice to get these all in one and not have to go out and find each individually!
