Lacing Figures
Bright translucent shapes make patterns easy to spot and even more fun to build. Lacing Figures gives your child eight geometric shapes in four vibrant colors, sturdy laces, clear activity cards, and transparent overlays that encourage sorting, lacing, patterning, and creative design.
Each shape is comfortably sized for preschool hands, while the transparent activity sheets let children place the pieces directly over the printed designs as they recreate each pattern.
The activities grow naturally with your child. Begin by sorting the pieces by color or shape, then copy the patterns on the cards before creating original mosaic designs of your own. Because the translucent shapes are easy to compare, children quickly notice similarities, differences, and repeating sequences.
Lacing adds another layer of learning. The clever two-hole design is one of our favorite features. Instead of sliding right off the lace—as happens with many preschool lacing toys—each shape is threaded in and back out again, helping it stay securely in place. How to Use Lacing Figures
- Spread the shapes across the table and invite your child to sort them by color or shape. Those little piles quickly become the starting point for noticing patterns, similarities, and differences.
- Hand your child a lace and demonstrate how each shape is threaded in through one hole and back out through the second. Unlike many preschool lacing toys, the shapes stay securely on the lace instead of slipping right back off, making it much easier to build long patterns without frustration.
- Lay one of the clear activity cards on the table and encourage your child to recreate the printed design. Some children enjoy lacing the pattern, while others prefer arranging the shapes directly on top of the card.
- Once the patterns are familiar, invite your child to create one of his own. Take turns copying each other's designs or extending a pattern to see how long it can grow.
