Little Memo is a preschool memory game designed for children as young as 2.5 years old. Using colorful animal figures and simple gameplay, children practice observation, memory, attention, and turn-taking through short rounds designed for young players.
The game includes nine colorful animal figures, a hiding box, and tokens used during gameplay.
To play, children close their eyes while one animal is hidden beneath the leafy box. Players open their eyes, look at the remaining animals, and try to identify which one disappeared.
Because the difficulty adjusts easily, families can begin with only a few animals and gradually add more as children become comfortable.
Along with memory and observation skills, Little Memo introduces foundational game skills such as following rules, taking turns, waiting patiently, and handling both winning and losing.
Designed for preschool-aged players, Little Memo is a memory and observation game that remains challenging as children gradually increase the number of animals in play.
How to Use Little Memo
- Begin with 3–4 animals so your child can focus on learning the game without becoming overwhelmed. Lay out the animals together and name each one before starting.
- Have your child close his eyes while one animal is hidden beneath the leafy box. When he opens his eyes, ask him to identify which animal is missing.
- If your child guesses correctly, award a token and continue playing. If not, reveal the answer together and try another round. Repetition is part of the learning process.
- Take turns so everyone participates. Along with memory and observation skills, children also practice turn-taking, following rules, and waiting patiently.
- As your child becomes more comfortable with the game, gradually increase the number of animals in play or hide multiple animals for an additional challenge.
- Because rounds are short and setup is simple, many families play several rounds in a single sitting.

LOVE! Out of all the games in the Pre-k curriculum this is my 4 and 2yr olds favorite! They play with it almost daily and are pretty good at guessing which critter the other has hidden.

Fun for all ages

I'm glad I found this game for my 2-year-old! He loves to name the creatures and hide them under the cup. Eventually we will play the game correctly, but it has kept him entertained in the meantime. Even my 8-month-old loves to hold the animal pieces and play peek a boo. Fun for all ages!

Adaptable memory fun!

In all honesty, when I received my preschool kit and understood that Little Memo was used to substitute another item, Animal Playground, that is no longer available, I was disappointed. Animal Playground looked to be more challenging and offer endless ways to play with the variety of pieces. HOWEVER, my family has made this game our own. I began working with just three of the animals at a time with my 3-year-old daughter and gradually began incrementing more as she thrived. Now, she runs and hides every time it's my turn to hide an animal or two (great way to get her energy out between workbooks). And, when my husband gets to join in, he REALLY challenges her memory by reorganizing the line-up or order of the visible animals (so that the invisible animals under the box are even harder to recall). I'm almost positive that as we grow to use the full amount of animals at one time, this game will be adapted even further to challenge all of us. Overall, though I think I would have liked the other option even better, this is still GREAT and easy to manipulate in a variety of creative ways. Thank you, Timberdoodle, for this fun alternative. I wouldn't have wanted to skip out on this memory-skills help by any means.

Great First Game

I got this for my 2 year old so she could have a game to play. She is pretty good at it! She can easily tell me which of the animals she picked are missing. My 4 year old likes this game too and I'm impressed with their memory! They also love challenging me to remember which they covered. My baby also likes chewing on the animals and putting them in the cup. It's a win win win from our family!
