How to Use Mad Mattr—The Sand Collection
- Start with a small mound of Mad Mattr on a tray, cookie sheet, or play mat. A contained workspace makes it easy to build, reshape, and clean up when playtime is over.
- Give your child time to explore the texture. Let him squeeze, crumble, stretch, and roll the compound through his hands before introducing the sculpting knife, brick molds, and geometric extruders. Experimenting is part of the fun.
- Flatten the compound with a palm, stack towers, build roads, or create animals and other imaginative designs. Then happily smash everything down and start again.
- Bring in toy animals, blocks, or small vehicles to leave tracks, climb hills, or inspire pretend play. Open-ended play keeps little hands busy and imaginations growing.
- Offer an occasional challenge, such as building a taller tower or using the extruders to create different geometric shapes and textured designs. These playful goals encourage persistence without turning playtime into a lesson.

Our Favorite Molding Sensory Activity

I have tried Magic Sand, Playdough, Kinetic Sand, etc. This stuff is the best. Magic and Kinetic Sand are sooo messy and gritty. Playdough smells awful and collects dirt and debris like that's its job and gets ground into carpet/rugs and is impossible to get out and can also stain hands. Mad Mattr can be annoying sometimes because pieces can and do break apart but they are MUCH more easily cleaned up than all the other options and they can have dirt and detritus easily picked out. It barely has a scent and although some reivews claim MM has left stains on hands, we have not personally had that problem. It's easily gotten out of carpet/rug fibers so it definitely is the winner in the sensory bin activity game for us!

I never bought this because I assumed it was kinetic sand. It’s a lot better and easier to clean than kinetic sand and my kids absolutely love this! Definitely happy I finally decided to give it a try!

Mad Mattr is a very loved product in our house. My son was thrilled that this came in his Pre-K curriculum kit. This product will keep him occupied for hours. He enjoys driving his toy vehicles through it. The molds that came with it are great too. It also cleans up well and doesn’t stick to materials in the way slime does.
