Math-U-See Pre-Algebra
Pre-Algebra bridges the gap between arithmetic and higher-level mathematics, helping students develop the skills and confidence needed for algebra and beyond. Through a mastery-based approach, students learn to work with increasingly abstract concepts while continuing to build strong problem-solving abilities.In Pre-Algebra, your student will explore negative numbers, exponents, order of operations, radicals, absolute value, rational and irrational numbers, and introductory algebraic concepts. Students learn to analyze relationships, solve increasingly complex problems, and develop the mathematical reasoning needed for future success.
Additional topics include the Pythagorean Theorem, surface area, volume, temperature conversions, military time, polynomials, coordinate graphing, and real-world applications. These lessons strengthen both computational skills and conceptual understanding while preparing students for formal algebra studies.
Like all Math-U-See levels, Pre-Algebra introduces concepts one at a time and emphasizes mastery before moving forward. Video instruction, visual demonstrations, and incremental practice help students understand why mathematical procedures work rather than simply memorizing steps.
Instructional videos and teacher resources are accessed through Math-U-See's Essential Plan. Each subscription includes 2 course credits, supports up to 5 student seats, and provides access to activated levels for one year.
Designed for students who have mastered decimals, percentages, and ratios, Math-U-See Pre-Algebra provides a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning and prepares learners for Algebra 1 and other advanced mathematics courses.

Math-U-See has transitioned from lifetime access to a one-year subscription for its digital resources, including instructional videos and the online teacher manual.
This new subscription provides digital access for two levels and up to five students. Depending on your family’s needs, this may offer more flexibility than the previous level-by-level lifetime access model.
One of the strengths of this plan is its flexibility. Your students are not locked into a single level. If a student finishes a level early or needs to go back and review an earlier one, you can swap a course credit to a different level right from your dashboard, up to once every 30 days. Because the plan includes two credits, a family with two students in different levels can often cover both with one subscription. When a student is ready to move up, you simply purchase the physical materials for the next level and swap the credit. As long as your subscription is active, there is no new subscription to buy to keep going.

We’ve stuck with MUS since kindergarten. Steve feels like a member of the family at this point. He’s an excellent teacher that gives lots of helpful hints and tips. I love that all the lessons have the same format and they review each week so it stays fresh in their mind.

My oldest struggles with math and after the first lesson, they told me that they learned a new trick and it made so much more sense. Using this curriculum has made me produce less gray hair 🤣 joking of course but I feel way less stress because my oldest doesn’t fight me on doing school anymore.

We have used Math U See for 3 years now. Pre-Algebra has been a breeze this year due to the way this program is set up. My son follows Steve Demme in the videos for each lesson, and then works through the week or until the concept is mastered. We will continue to use this program up through high school.

My daughter was really nervous to start Pre-Algebra but Math U See makes everything approachable. She is feeling more confident and doesn't dread the next lesson. It's a definite win at our house with all 3 kids from ages 17 to 9. Math isn't any of their favorite subjects, but they are successful in this program.
