Across ten units, your child explores topics through colorful lessons, hands-on activities, observations, and short reviews.
Built around Singapore’s 5E approach—engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate—the program encourages children to ask questions, notice patterns, and think through what they observe rather than simply memorize facts.
The program uses three components: a full-color textbook, an activity book, and a teacher guide that provides lesson support, teaching suggestions, and materials lists.

How to Use My Pals Are Here! Science

- Use the Teacher Guide heavily. It provides lesson support, materials lists, discussion questions, and teaching suggestions, so you do not have to create the lessons yourself.
- Plan for discussion. Much of the learning happens as you talk through observations, predictions, and what your child notices during activities.
- Keep the activities simple. Most experiments are short and manageable, focusing more on observation and understanding than complicated setups.

Discover! Science is more thorough and has suggestions for implementing it with various learning styles. Discover! Science provides more content overall than My Pals Are Here. They do have some similarities, including being less experiment-based than some other courses. Both are lovely courses, and either could be a good fit for families!

I actually purchased this curriculum for my preschool/ pre-ker. My MiL is a retired science teacher with 30 years of experience and she and I share the duties of doing science with my son. The teacher's guide is great, although it might be jarring for a parent that is unfamiliar with 5E lesson planning. Once you get beyond the overload of seeing so much on the page, it is fairly simple to follow though. This curriculum definitely requires a lot of parental involvement. The student book is simple, and each chapter only consists of a few pages with a few sentences, providing the overarching concepts for you to fill in with more information. The workbook is great too. Obviously, since I'm working on this with a not quite 4 year old, rather than a first grader, we rely on him dictating the answers to me. We've also found that we can pair a lot of these concepts with items that came in the Pre-K curriculum kit. I've found very logical pairings in the Berenstain Bears Science book, both My Very First Science and My Very First Body Book, Smart Start Stem Pre-K, and the Show Me Science Kit. Honestly, the ease of tying all these resources together is amazing.

We have looked for a really long time and tried so many different science curriculums for our little one. This one has been an excellent fit. The colorful pages and short information per page has been very child friendly. She loves how there are experiments, review questions, activities and real world connections sprinkled thru out all the chapters too. The activity book is in black and white and for our little one this has not been a problem but for some kids who prefer color images this could be an issue. The instruction manual is very open and go along with all the answers to questions in both the book and activity book. There is quite a bit of teacher prep needed ahead of time but the instruction manual lays it all out for you including the planning of scheduling etc. This has been priceless in our homeschool classroom. The real life science pictures in the text book are wonderful. Finally a science that has been fun and hands on while being educational and engaging. We would highly recommend this to others and plan to continue to use others levels. Thank you Timberdoodle for offering another great secular science choice.
