How to Use My Pals Are Here! Science
- Start with the three components: the textbook, activity book, and teacher guide. Each section uses all three together, so keep them nearby.
- Work through one lettered section at a time. Many families complete one section each week, which creates a steady pace for finishing the course during the school year.
- Use the Teacher Guide often. It provides lesson support, materials lists, pacing suggestions, answer keys, and discussion prompts so you can focus more on teaching and less on planning.
- Expect lessons to vary. Some sections emphasize reading and discussion while others focus more on drawing, observing, comparing, writing, or hands-on activities.
- Spend time talking through observations. Much of the learning happens when your child explains what he notices, compares ideas, and begins connecting concepts across lessons.

MPH Science covers biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science elements at each level. At the end of each unit is a review, a test, a glossary, and more.
There are just three books for each grade level: a Textbook, a consumable Activity Book, and a Teacher's Guide. Each black-and-white Teacher's Guide includes lesson plans, suggestions for teaching, and answers to all textbook and activity book exercises.
The black-and-white consumable Activity Book provides related exercises and reinforces concepts, many learned through art-based activities. Other hands-on activities are included to develop students' competencies and cater to kinesthetic and visual learners.
MPH Science does require frequent parental involvement, regardless of the grade being taught. Parents will need to oversee experiments, explain concepts, and answer questions. Thankfully, everything you will require is covered in the Teacher's Guides; you do not need a strong science background. Corresponding pages of the textbook and activity book are referenced. Any other resources or materials you may need are cited. They have even suggested how much time is necessary for every step of each lesson.

Great Curriculum

We have searched for a really long time and tried so many different science curriculums for our little one. It is very hard to find a good hands on secular science curriculum. This one has been an excellent fit for our family. The colorful pages with excellent real life science photography and short information per page has been very child friendly. We love how there are experiments, review questions, activities and real world connections sprinkled thru out all the chapters and units too. The activity book is in black and white and for our little one this has not been a problem but for some kids who prefer color images this could be an issue. The instruction manual is very open and go along with all the answers to questions in both the book and activity book. There is quite a bit of teacher prep needed ahead of time but the instruction manual lays it all out for you including the planning and scheduling. This has been priceless in our homeschool classroom. Finally a science that has been fun and hands on while being educational and engaging. We would highly recommend this to others and plan to continue to use others levels. Thank you Timberdoodle for offering another great secular science choice.
