My Story and the World Around Me 1 My Story 1 is a twice-a-week adventure-based social studies course. It will gently introduce your first-grader to cultures in other parts of the world, citizenship, geography, and economics. He will explore the world through four different quests while hearing how deep God’s love is toward us. He will also be learning to love God and people more.
My Story 1 is packed with information, colorful worksheets, beautiful photography, flashcards, and art ideas. The focus is not on rote memory of facts and figures. Instead, the goal of My Story 1 is to familiarize your first-grader with the full scope of social studies. There is no teacher guide, all instruction is built into the program, and it is scripted toward the child. Each lesson is short and manageable, perfect for this age group.
A straight-forward 36-week schedule is provided in the book, and each assignment is clearly marked. Complete one assignment, split into two convenient mini-lessons each week.
Just what exactly is social studies, you may ask? Well, it includes the study of all kinds of people and places, some far away and some next door. In this book we talk about families, like your family in your house, and also lots of people close by, which we call a town or city, and finally about even more people in cities or outside of cities, all living in big places called countries.
Level one begins with children in their homes, helping them think about their lives from their immediate families and beyond, as well as learning about local governments. Includes four quests.
This is a daily adventure-based curriculum series that encourages families to explore the world together through four, nine-week quests and to understand it better from God’s perspective. It is designed with elements that make weekly learning fun and interactive, including:
