How to Use Paint-by-Number Museum Duo
- Set out the canvas, paints, brush, and reference sheet. Show your child how the numbered guide matches the blank canvas before getting started.
- Work one section at a time. Find the correct area on the reference sheet, choose the matching paint color, and carefully fill in that portion of the canvas.
- Encourage slow, steady brushwork. Paint the edges first, then fill in the center. If a color or line isn't quite right, make small adjustments and keep going.
- Plan on completing just a few sections during each session. Short, focused painting times help your child stay patient and enjoy watching the artwork gradually come to life.
- Return to the painting over several days until both masterpieces are complete. As the blank spaces disappear, your child will gain confidence while seeing two famous works of art emerge one careful brushstroke at a time.

My third grader was looking forward to trying out one of his paint-by-number art kits. These Faber Castell museum kits are great. The paint is easy to work with (and close up while waiting for layers to dry), and the smaller sized canvas is not overwhelming for beginning artists, but not too small that painting is frustrating. I like that the technique of layering paint is a part of this project. Once he is finished, it will be fun to display his hard work!
