Picture This 2! uses illustrated real-world situations to help children develop social awareness, problem-solving skills, and emotional understanding. Through 20 detailed picture scenes, children practice observing, interpreting, and discussing situations they may encounter in everyday life.
The scenarios focus on common childhood experiences, including misunderstandings, friendship challenges, conflicts, disappointments, and other social situations that require thoughtful responses. Guided questions encourage children to look beyond what is happening on the surface and consider how different people might be thinking, feeling, and reacting.
As children discuss each scene, they practice critical thinking, perspective-taking, communication, and decision-making. Rather than being told what to think, they learn to analyze situations, consider possible solutions, and explain their reasoning.
The laminated, wipe-clean pages make the book easy to reuse in homeschool settings, classrooms, counseling environments, or family discussions. Because there is no preparation required, parents can simply open to a scene and begin a meaningful conversation.

This product was an instant hit! All three of my children opened this up right away out of all the items in the 2nd grade kit to start the questions! It’s fun to play for younger and older children especially since the answers are up to the eye of the beholder and are no clear cut correct answers. Every questions sparks a new conversation about social clues. Definitely recommend!

Love! Love! Love! After enjoying the first flip book of this series my daughter requested the second book. The questions for this one were even more thought provoking and discussion building. The books are a fun way to talk about behavioral choices and life situations without having to first hand experience them.

Great SEL resource

My son and I have been going through the Picture This 2! resource this school year. The flip book includes detailed pictures that spur good discussions. Two levels of questioning guide learners through the exercise. It is a great way to talk about cause and effect and social/emotional cues.

Depends on the kid

This is overall well done, but my kid was more interested in giving quick, precise answers to the prompts than actually discussing anything. Combine that with not wanting to skip a single question, and it just became something that was tedious for me and not actually beneficial for my child. A few of the questions don't actually line up with the picture indicated, and while it's easy enough to figure out what got mixed up, it does require paying attention.

Questions on the back issues

Love this sort of thing - my son really needs it as he is on the autistic spectrum. We did the first volume (also on Timberdoodle) and had him tell me what they are feeling, why, and what could help. They also had Who, What, When, etc. questions on the back, but since I already taught him how to answer those sorts of questions, we just focused on emotional intelligence. This second volume, focuses more on cause and effect and has deeper questions. However, the back of the page is what the teacher sees so you can read the questions. However, the numbers on the teacher's mini picture do not match up with the titles of those sections and the questions in those section do not necessarily match either. We just did ONE page together and found that a number of the first numbers/titles/questions were all mixed up. This is going to make things hard moving forward. I also will probably xerox the questions so we can both look at the front together as I have trouble seeing that smaller image on the back. So I love the product, not the mix ups on the teacher page. Someone should have doubled checked it before printing.

Perfect for my Autistic Son

We used the Picture This! level 1 in 3rd grade for my autistic son. He already went through learning who, what, when, where, why, and how in 2nd grade, so we did not use the questions on the back. We focused on the social skills side of things. We identified the emotions people were feeling, why, and how we should respond. We also discussed who was making good choices and bad choices.. and how to do things differently next time. Picture This gave my son a place to work out complex interactions and feeling without it being too personal or too upsetting. We picked up Picture This #2 to continue this social emotional education in 4th grade. Most kids will find this material more useful in the younger grades, but with autism, sometimes you need it when they are ready for it.
