Picture This! Flipbook uses detailed, full-color scenes to encourage conversation, observation, and language development. How to Use Picture This! Flipbook
- Choose one scene and spend a few minutes exploring it together. With 20 detailed illustrations, there is no need to rush through the book.
- Start with five to ten of the included questions. Ask your child what he notices, what might be happening, how the characters feel, or what he thinks could happen next. Encourage complete answers when possible, but don't worry about perfection.
- Allow your child to answer in his own words. Some responses may be unexpected, but explaining ideas and observations is an important part of building language and reasoning skills.
- Return to the same scene later in the week and continue with additional questions. Children frequently notice new details the second time through, leading to richer discussions and more thoughtful answers.
- Take your time with interesting conversations. The goal is not to finish a scene quickly but to encourage observation, vocabulary development, comprehension, and meaningful discussion.

The Picture This! Flip Book has helped my son to grasp the concept of emotions! We love looking at each scene and talking about what each person is feeling and why. Eventually we will get more into the prompted questions. I appreciate that there is a list of questions readily available for discussion!

Who, What, When....

When my son went through the Timberdoodle curriculum, one of the things we were missing was teaching "who, what, when, where, why, and how" questions. My son had a very hard time understanding that each type of question was looking for something different. We found some cards on tpt in order to fill that need. So I am VERY happy that Timberdoodle added this item to their curriculum kit. It covers all those question types but ALSO can be used to discuss emotions and empathy... how does this person feel? how does that make you feel? What do they need/what can we do for them? In fact, I grabbed this up for an older child just to go over the emotional side of things. The drawings were so good for emotions!
